There's plenty of good freeware stuff out there, go to https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/ it is a good site for computer based recording/producing. You'll find talk of all kinds of free stuff as well as the expensive stuff. Not sure what you are using now to record, but since it sounds like you record audio to the computer, a lot of people there on kvr forums seem to like a host program called Reaper. I haven't tried it yet so can't give you my opinion on it.
The problem most people doing home recording have (including myself) is when it comes to actual recording/production techniques, it takes time to develop just like learning an instrument. Your songs in general on your page have a very harsh quality to them, not talking about the music, just the actual overall tone of the tracks. Like playpus said, it also changes in tone way too drastic, the clean part in Narrow Gate doesn't match the 2nd part with the heavy guitars at all, the clean is all loud and sounds way up front while the heavy guitars are far away sounding and muddy. Also some things are way louder than others in the songs. A good idea is to listen to songs you like how they sound (sonically, not musically) and try to go for that same vibe when recording/mixing your own songs. Try to see where they place the guitars in the mix, if the sound is real dry or not, etc... Then you record and mix yours and compare how the two sound. It's not easy to do, I am way more a musician than producer, that's for sure.
What do you use for your amp? Depending on what you use, I could give you some ideas on getting a better distortion sound.
