OUR FAVORITE TO WIN THE TITLE...........................
Yepper..............it's the Warriors.............................
Warriors even with end of season stats playing without key players still lead the league , with those key players they are well above the other teams.
17 of our last 19 favorites have made the final in their sport, 13 of 19 have won the title. 18 of 20 if we include the Eagles which we had no. 1 but we do not count that as we passed on Eagles with Foles at QB.
Rockets may have somewhat of a chance, they have improved quite a bit and did have injuries to Paul who missed a number of games and the Rockets big 3 playing together might be a bit better then the ratings give them credit for.
Rockets won 65 games, most 65 game winners have gone on to win the title, seems 65 wins is the magic number that only the very best, strongest teams can get to.
However, the Rockets would be the worst 65 game winner in the all-important FG % differential....46-46.2 = (-.2)
They have been out-shot by opps which has not boded well for past 65 game winners.
All but 2... 65 game winners out-shot opps by 2.7 or better, and the 2 that did not ? Both failed to win the title, one was somewhat recent when Mavs lost in the first round to GS back in 2007 i think.
If Rockets win the title they would crush previous record of title winners in % of 3's taken.
They take so many 3's that of course lowers their off FG% which impacts their differential.
Taking all those long shots makes it far more difficult to be consistent on a game to game basis over a series. A couple bad shooting 3's games and they are done.
Over the years title winners have been taking more and more 3's but nothing near what the Rockets are doing. And those other winners still produce a very strong FG % differentail despite taking all those 3's.
But the Rockets do not at a very poor (-.2) I can not see a team like this winning the title, even if they did pull off the upset over Warriors they could still lose to Raptors who are very almost even in PR I and not far behind in PRII. or even the 76ers who are almost even in PRII and not all that far behind in PR I.
Rockets may be better with the big 3 all playing but there is alot not to like about this team winning the title.
It is very possible that if the Warriors injury problems do affect them , which might be the only way they do not win the title, that we could see some big surprise winner such as we saw with 2004 Pistons winning the title.
Things might be setting up for this to happen, but that all depends on the Warriors players coming back 100% healthy and staying that way through the finals. And remember Curry does have a history of injury problems, maybe he goes down again in playoffs, this we can not predict as just the luck factor.
