Pacers hung in there pretty good in game 2, but LBJ went off . Normally when the road team wins big as Pacers did game 1 and pointed out by RJ Bell, the home team bounces back big and gets the cover game 2.
Cavs did not do that which is a good indicator for Pacers going forward. They didn't because they can't, they are not very good.
Cavs far worse on the road, shaping up for a good possible Pacers series win.
Game 1 and 2 was a CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF why triple-doubles are way over-rated.
Could not of come at a better time since we were just talking about such.
Game 2 LBJ , 17 of 24 = 70.8%, 2 of 5 or 40% on 3's yea he went off, 12 rebs but only 5 assists.
No triple-double, but he was a far better player and contributed far more to helping his team win then he did in game 1 despite not getting a triple-double in game 2.
Do you really believe had he got 5 more assit for a triple-douple but shot only 41% from the field that would make him a better player and help his team win more ???
Funny as all-get-out. But that is what some experts want you to believe.
OK, lets say he shot 41% on his 24 FG attempts, that is 10 baskets and we give him his 2...3's, good for 22 points not 46.
His 5 extra assist leads to 50% shooting including 3's and FT and TO, which only 2 teams shot 50 or better and Cavs were not one of them but we will give them the 50%.
5 extra assist leads to 5 extra points, so now he has 27 points but on 70.8% shooting he scored 46 points not 27.
That is why FG% matters .
When we look at many of LBJ's finals triple-doubles especially earlier in his career he had games like game 1, low FG %.
When we look at MJ in finals , he had games like LBJ did in game 2 VS Pacers, came up short of a triple double but shot lights out and scored far more points then LBJ did when he got a triple double.
MJ would have games shooting 57% scoring 42 points, with 9 rebs and 7 assists.
Getting 1 more reb and 3 more assist but shooting 41% and scoring far fewer points does not make one a better player nor does it contributed to helping your team win the game more.
But some experts will try their best to convince you it does.
