Didn't watch the game but I look at the box score and it looks like pacers should've won. They won in assists/rebounds/3pt/fast break PTs... Did they get screwed by the refs or something?? Lol
What do you think? 33fts for Blazers to 17fts for Pacers. Aldridge was kneeing people in the nuts everytime he drove to the basket but they weren't calling it.

Pacers couldn't get anyone besides George going on offense. Hibbert played much better 2h, but couldn't get anything going 1h. Aldridge took West out of the game, and the night before Blake Griffin played really hard against West. West was definitely tired. Lance fouled out and was out of the game completely from start to finish. IMHO that was the biggest reason the Pacers lost.
Blazers just hung around, and kept it close and then made a nice run in the lat 3rd, early 4th. Aldridge and Lillard played lights out in the 4th, but the unsung hero was Mo Williams. He played huge, and kept the game close while the starters were on the bench.
As for the FT's, the Pacers didn't drive to the basket much (Lance can do that, but he was in no-man's land last night), Lopez played good defense to not foul Hibbert. As for the knees Aldridge was giving Hibbert, I don't know how to call that a foul. And if they called that a foul, Dwayne Wade wouldn't have a job.
No screwjob on the outcome, just a great game, Aldridge, Lillard, Mo Williams were the difference.

is there a way we can get 29 other guys to volunteer to do this with the remaining teams?
i used to go on espn message boards , but theyve been permanently closed
paul george is making incredible shots that only reggie miller used to make. too bad he cant kick out like reggie used to and draw a 3 shot foul. they eliminated the reggie rule
I'd love to get threads like this on other teams. Widener started one on the 76ers, but I haven't seen him in a while. Too bad because he was doing really good on his picks.
Since I started this thread I find myself paying even more attention to the games and stats and it's really helping notice trends. If there is anyone else out there that feel comfortable starting a thread on a particular team, I think it would be really helpful.

what do you think of todays games?? who do you like?
It's very rare that I wager on games other than the Pacers. I don't know enough about all the other teams in the league to put my money on them. I won't be betting any games tonight, but there were 3 totals that got my interest as well as a spread.
Pistons at Heat 201.5 seemed a bit high to me. Heat off of rest seem to play spirited D...especially at home.
Nuggets at Nets 204.5 seemed high as well. Nets have struggled big time, and the Nuggets have scored lots of points, but their numbers have been inflated by playing teams with awful defenses or high scoring games (MIN, TOR, DAL, OKC, etc.)
Raptors at Warriors 201 seemed low. Golden State at home against a bad defense...Raptors can play fast.
Nuggets -4 at Nets...Nuggets quietly have won 6 straight...Nets have won 2 games out of their last 9 against a depleted Memphis, and a bad Raptors team.
DISCLAIMER: I have learned about myself over the years that I am a complete disaster betting on spreads outside of the Pacers. Therefore, I don't ever do it. I am 50/50 on totals outside of the Pacers, therefore I very rarely do it. Part of the reason is that I don't have the time to research every team as intricately as the Pacers, so when I give these thoughts on the games above...these are just suggestions on games that may have weak lines. I could be wrong, I could be right...but my track record on betting on teams besides the Pacers is dismal. If you do the research and find they are worthy of a bet, I say go for it...but please, please, PLEASE don't take those bets just because I mentioned them. GL

Just caught up on your recent write-ups the last week or so. I don't know how old you are but you seem like the type of person I would enjoy talking sports with because even as a homer you actually are knowledgeable about your squad unlike the average fan. As for the game coming up against Utah, on a fantasy squad I have Trey Burke who has come in and once finally given the chance (and minutes) he gives Utah hope. That being said I haven't been able to watch them play, I just know for a team that started out so terrible Burke has them winning three of four. I'll be waiting to see what you play tomorrow so I can sprinkle a little action on it as well.

the last time the pacers won in salt lake city, they held the jazz to 60 points. im going to step out on a major limb and say the jazz shooting percentage was kinda low that night

Well, there are a couple things tough to handicap about the Jazz, and a couple of things easy to handicap. Whats easy to handicap is to throw out all the early games the Jazz played without Trey Bruke. Since he started playing they've been a different team. A team that has shot over 48% from the field, but a team that also plays uptempo and allows a high FG %. What's difficult, is we are dealing with a small sample size.
Side Note: There are a few guys associated with ES*N (I know a lot of guys hate them on here) who I really trust with certain sports. With the NBA, I always look at what David Thorpe says, and what Ryen Russillo says. Before Burke came back he said this Jazz roster is way better then what they were playing like, and when Burke would start playing they would be a decent team. Looks like he was correct.
First off I'm looking at the spread. I was hoping for something really low or really high, but like usual the books got it right and put it at 8. The Jazz have a lot of momentum, it's a tough place to play, but it's a lot of young guys. Pacers are coming off a loss, but are rested so we know they are going to be motivated. I'm not going to play the spread, but I lean very slightly towards taking the Jazz and the points.
It's a small sample size, but the Jazz offense has been good (it's been against bad defenses, but it's still been efficient), and the Pacers offense has been putting up points. Last game everyone except George struggled and the still put up over 100. I think tonight is a good spot for an over play. 187 seems pretty low. I would've expected it to be around 196-198 so I like the value here. Jazz won't give up tonight, and I'm looking at the Jazz roster and trying to figure out how they are going to matchup defensively against the Pacers and I don't see it.
I'm also going to play the Jazz TT over 89.5. Let's not forget this is the 3rd road game in 4 nights for them. When the Pacers are rested, this is the the best defensive team in the league, but this schedule will wear on any team. Pacers can be a half step slow on defense, and with a team like the Jazz that has perimeter shooting and speed, that can create problems.
That's it for now, but keep an eye on this game and look for a 2h play. The 2h halves have been sources of lots of points for both teams. If the situation is right, I think an over play in the 2h will be profitable.

you think its safe bet to take the pacers -1 in teaser?
Probably, but teams like the Jazz can be scary. Young team, no worries, no pressure, playing with confidence...and there's not a lot of tape or scouting on the team with Trey Bruke playing. Surprises can happen if this team gets hot. Could you tease the total? If I could tease it to 180 and take the over, I'd feel much better about that.

Another friendly reminder to everyone...this thread is designed for long term success over the season. Not looking to break the bank on one particular play, just looking to be profitable at the end of the year. 1-2 units is what I play per pick. So far it's been good, but I did whiff on the Bulls and 76ers games, and bankroll management is key to surviving those nights because as we all know they will happen.

I'm sprinkling a little unit bet on the over in this game and the jazz TT with you brother. Hope you get to watch a good game with both these plays hitting

Nothing 1h for me. Don't see any value. Pacers are playing better in the 1h, and the totals against these higher tempo teams are hard to predict. Especially with a young team like the Jazz.
