Whenever someone is this bullish it's like they have to convince themselves. This idea of closers in basketball that youve invented Id be fine with, but saying the Bucks dont have guys that can finish games off is hilarious. Middleton has finished teams off all the time, see the recent Miami game. Giannis' problem at the end of games is usually FTs I agree the Lakers depth is atrocious and Lebron js getting old. I don't even like their squad I think AD is overrated and it was BS how he moved teams, practically tampering. I would much rather see Clips vs Bucks. That would be a good series. But I would go with the Bucks. Their defense and chemistry is the best Ive seen of any team. I don't know why people think Doc Rivers is some genius coach, doesn't appear that way to me.
It's all good, buddy. We can agree to disagree. I hope the matchup takes place so you can see the Buck's "closers" choke for yourself. Then you can come in here and give me some love. And if the opposite happens, I'll give you some love.

Your wrong on the closer part. This is where watching basketball and actually playing it are different. Being a closer is not just being able to score late and finish the opponent off, it is the guy who is trusted by his teammates to consistently make shots when the pressure is at its highest. Middleton has proven to be a possible closer but the question is in the playoffs, can he do it every night? Because that is needed in a series. Its why the same few guys are always going to the finals...Kawhi, Lebron, Steph, KD, etc...these guys know how to finish games. Basketball is a 5 v 5 sport, but unlike most sports, late in games it turns into more of a 2 v 2 or even a 1 v1 instead of everyone on the team pitching in. We saw it with Giannis v Kawhi last year, Giannis couldve won the series, but Kawhi was too much for him...

Whats your view on the 76ers vs Celtics series? Rolling Celtics with Simmons out? I could see all the games being super super close but Celtics always pull away late...

i think the Celtics really looked good in the bubble. Philly beat them thrice during the year so I’m sure they’ll be ready, Simmons or no Simmons. Embiid is a loser. He is a poor man’s Olajuwon. So much talent, so little heart. Celtics in 4 or 5.

I think maybe the cadence of these playoffs in the Bubble could be the X factor. Whereas last year we had teams in the Conference 1st round play G1 then have a day or even 2 off then play G2 in host city then travel with a day or even 2 off to another city for G3 and G4 then an extra day off back for G5 now these are all every other day series. What that means to ATS and totals I'm trying to figure out but I'd have to imagine these will be some of the highest scoring playoffs of all time as it's basically a pick up game at Ruckers Park every other day. There should be no fatigue from travel, if anything suffers it'll be effort on defense. There's no pregame hype, no pregame warm ups in front of a hostile crowd, there's no crowd momentum no matter how hard they try to pipe in noise. It's basically who makes the most of their 40 shot attempts in the 4th qtr. Should be interesting and have an asterisk for whomever wins the whole thing.

Also if you look at the starting times it's unlike any playoffs ever before. We have games starting at 10:30 PST everyday but if you look closer Lakers get late start everyday despite every team being in same location, like they are treating it as east coast and west coast times. Some series play all morning games. That has to factor in.

It’s all intended to get us to the finals without a hitch. They don’t want anything slowing down this train. I’m not a totals guy, but what you’re saying makes perfect sense.

Absolutely love the Clippers to win it all. Quietly Doc navigated this team through the regular season without major injury and built team chemistry. Their best is yet to come. With each passing round the Clippers will strengthen their play and especially defense. Kawhi is a bonafide superstar in his prime.
Clippers / Celtics Finals. Clips in 7.

If the Celtics beat the Bucks I’ll be upset cause it’s hard for me to see that. Bucks would have to choke big time. Celtics are too small imo. The Bucks are basically a bigger version of them, but I guess it can happen.

Back to the closer thing. Butler proving again he can really close, especially in big games. Not a great shooter but makes the jumpers when they are needed. Philly regrets letting him go for this reason.

Coach Bud needs to play Giannis more.(34 mins) You load manage his mins during the regular season to play him 34 mins in Game 1? Coach Bud needs to learn to play your best players and shorten the rotation like Nick Nurse

very much like a closing pitcher! These guys just have a different mentality when the game is in the 4th and on the line. Butler can miss all those shots in the first three quarters, but when it’s closing time he can channel his inner mj.

Hate to say it, but coach Bud is the weak link for this team. Great regular season coach who can’t make adjustments in the playoffs. He tries to do the same thing that worked in the regular season but doesn’t work in the playoffs.

True. Butler really was physical today and brought it all. His feud with TJ Warren is truly one sided, TJ let Jimmy get to him today. This series could end quickly...

Mentioned it in another thread. Its not even Embiid, he did not play bad tonight. Tobias Harris, who is on a max deal, continues to toss up bricks and destroy any perimeter shooting threat...

you can pin it in a role player but the guy was a baller with the Clippers. It (the winning attitude) all comes from your star players and coach. Embiid half asses it all season and the other guys just follow his lead. That’s how it be in the NBA.

Very true. I like Harris and was excited when he was traded to the 76ers. He is good fit but the only problem is that "fit" is literally the JJ Reddick fit, problem is tho that he is a worse shooter and 20 mil per year more expensive than Reddick lol

1) Clippers are in a class all by themselves. I haven’t seen a team this deep and this loaded with talent since ever. And I’ve been watching the NBA for a long time. In a series with the Lakers, if LBJ and Davis end up being the best two players on the floor, the Clippers have the next 10. Foget about it! 2) Barring an injury, the Clippers are winning the title. Don’t waste money on Laker futures. Without Avery Bradley, against a healthy Clippers team, they don’t have a shot. Clippers at +275 is a great price. 3) The Bucks are the class of the East but they won’t beat the Clippers and there is chance they don’t get there because coach Bud is a bit of a choker. 4) The NBA can’t afford to mess around with these series. Covid is rampant and one positive test can derail the playoffs. I expect quick series in the first few rounds (with maybe one or two exceptions) with the best team taking care of business and advancing. The goal here is to get to the finals without a hitch, not to extend series when there is no money to be made off box office sales. 5) Upsets in the first round: OKC and possibly Indiana (though I doubt it). 6) Best series moneyline in the first round: Denver at -200. Utah is a joke. 7) I think Celtics will beat the Raptors and lose to the Bucks in the East. But if Raptors advance, they have a shot against the Bucks.
Yes first class back to LA all by themselves

Why didn’t you bump this thread when Clippers were up 3-1 with a 16 point halftime time lead in game 5?! There were many hedging opportunities for those who took the Clippers to win the West or the Championship, though I’m sure not many did. If you could see this team folding the way they did (up 3-1 up 16 at the half in the closeout game) then you, my friend, are Nostradamus.
