Ice4blood hit the nail on the head.
Cleveland's issue is that team is not built for the playoffs. Period.
Playoffs require a different intensity level, and a different level of play. You don't need three superstars, but you need 2-3 people on a team that are able to raise their intensity and games come playoff time to be successful. The Cavs are successful in the regular season because the stakes aren't that high, but they cannot raise their level come playoff time.
The Lakers have Gasol, Bryant, Fisher, and Artest as of late.
Orlando has Howard, Lewis, Nelson, and Carter.
Boston has Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Rondo, and sometimes Sheed.
Phoenix has Hill, Stoudemire, Nash, Richardson, and Barbosa.
All names mentioned are proven, veteran players that are able to raise their level come playoff time, and hit a big bucket. Make a crucial stop. Play lockdown D.
The only player that Cleveland has right now that can play at a playoff level is LeBron James. And that''s not enough.

I think everyone interpreted the question wrong but thats just me. I think the OP meant beating the C's when he said been able to win. He didnt say win it all.
Kobe or Jordan replacing LeBron = Victory over C's.
Without a doubt in my mind Kobe or Jordan replacing LeBron = a 7 games series. Without a fuckin' doubt in my mind.
Not getting to the conf. championship?

You obviously need a history lesson, or you have a short term memory.
Research game 7 of the 2006 playoff series between the Suns and Lakers. Kobe flat out, and blantantly quit on his team by only taking 3 shots in the 2nd half and letting the Suns close out the series with a 31 point win.
He then quit on his team again the following year against those same Suns in the playoffs. Afterwards is when he got into a summer-long war with Lakers management about him wanting to be traded.
Kobe ain't too different from LeBron in the regard that they both have a tendency to quit when outgunned and outmanned.

the answer to this thread is NO... and it is not really even debatable...
name 1 team in the last 20 years that won an NBA title with just one star on the team, surrounded by nothing but role players... that is what these Cleveland Cavaliers are... 1 star surrounded by no all-star caliber players... that is not and will not ever be an NBA championship team...
people are so stupid, acting like this is a surprise... it is not Lebron's fault that the media force fed this pretender of a team down your throat... it is no Lebron's fault that in 8 years Cleveland Cavaliers management didn't land ONE SINGLE All-Star to compliment him...
this may be a hypothetical question... but the question that is NOT hypothetical is this:
DID Jordan or Kobe ever win a title with a surrounding cast that is comparable to Lebron's... and the answer to that is...
are you high? FUCK NO! Kobe and Jordan won every single title surrounded by AT LEAST 1 All Star... Jordan had 2 perennial All Stars for almost every one of his titles, and Kobe had Shaq for all but one, and Pau for the other one (not to mention Bynum and Odom, giving them one of the best front lines of the last 20 years)...
how can anyone suggest Kobe or Jordan would have a title, when all evidence tells you they would not? there is not a single thing that has happened over the last 25-30 years of basketball that would support any suggestion that Kobe or Jordan would have won a title with this team...

...and Jordan's a more respected leader who would call players out and get the best out of them. His teammates bought into his winning ways.
btw Jordan would cover double digit spreads too if needed

It's not that they're "bad" - they're all good players & with 'Bron superstarrin make for a great reg season team. They're just not the kind of great role players you can blend well enough teamwise to win a ring with a 1 man kinda show like Lebron or contain 1 or 2 key all-star caliber guys like he needs to get it done without a great big man -

I'm not sure they overachieved as much as Lebron is just that individually good & unselfish as well and they had enough other good players (also unselfish) in their own right doin their thing to put up that kinda record in the REGULAR season - much different than the intensity of the playoffs.
You're a Cavs fan & would know better than I, but it seemed to me when they were clickin & LJ was doin his deal, things rolled pretty easy which also helped 'em on D - especially vs lesser teams. But with a team like Bos who could pressure 'em on D & O with various options & instinctive team ball (a diff kind of teamwork that flows together that can lift and feed off each other) with still hungry stars that had been there, done that, they were somewhat at a loss & didn't have the kinda will, heart (team or LJ) or enough flexible talent to push thru it or even seem like they laid it all out. Probably more just the makeup of LJ & the club though than being quitters - hell, not everybody's a Jordan no matter how much talent they might have

Kobe never wanted to be traded and would never have left LA. It was all positioning by him to get Mitch Kupcake to actually do something about Smushy, Kwame and Brian "Puppycrap" Cook (Compare them to James teamates) the teamates Dr. Phil ordered Kobe to pass the ball to at halftime of Suns game. That's what Kobe did. He did not quit!
The results: Mitch grows a set and fulfills his destiny and Kobe gets Gasol, Fisher and Ariza/Artest to pass the ball to. Oh, and some bling too!
