In a sport where games can be determined by one or two plays here or there, any time you can find ANY situation where even 1 or 2 players on your team (an already bad one at that) aren’t focused or don’t have their head in the game, there’s a huge advantage to be had. The Giants offensive line was terrible today, Giants actually fumbled 4 times but the refs bailed them out of what should have been a 2nd Eli Manning fumble. Could 1 offensive lineman, RB, cornerback, linebacker, or safety not have their head 100% into this game due to their season being lost; just losing 3 very emotional games; dejected due to missing the playoffs for the third straight season; or not caring because the game meant nothing to them? It’s definitely a possibility and like I said, it only takes 1 person on your team to be unfocused to hurt your entire team. I saw a huge edge in favor of the Jaguars motivation today and played it, win or lose I would have stood by my pick afterwards because motivation is the biggest intangible affect in sports. Saints were just humiliated losing 3 straight at home after being the best home team in the league for years. They came out very motivated and went to Pittsburgh and whooped them from beginning to end.
