If ever there was a sign to not bet until November like I usually do, I think this was it. Holy disgusting start. Boston gets walloped, Calgary gets beat up by disgusting no-talent Vancouver, San Jose dominated Anaheim and gets doubled up on home ice, and Toronto looks very eh but wins in OT--which did nothing for me. Yikes.

You can't appreciate the true feeling of success until you've tasted failure. I'm still with you man. I'll be heading over to Europa League soccer for today to recoup ....Also lucky I took the Bos/Was over 5.5 and Montreal +1.5 early enough (before you posted) so I didn't take a complete bath.

I had 1/2 unit on BOS/WASH over also that I just didn't get to post either but still. Tough start lol. But then, that's why I usually wait till November. Making bets and predictions based on last year's teams pretty much as opposed to watching them actually perform for a month and getting true insight on how they play...big difference. Good luck with the soccer!

NYI/CAR over 6 -120 Well opening night was a blast! We all know the Isles were a great season long pick when it came to the over. I’ve been astounded by the Isles management or lack thereof for decades now. Terrible off-season for them. They lose star Tavares, make no notable upgrades especially in goal or on defense which is where they were a sieve last year. They have a decent top 6 that should be able to provide some offensive punch, but I see the same issues that plagued them last year rearing its ugly head again for them this year. Greiss is confirmed to start and this guy was a better’s over wet dream last year. I’m not going back and looking at the actual numbers because I remember posting about it so much last year so let’s hope that an off-season doesn’t bring about a brand-new goalie here and that he stays the same. Carolina lost Jeff Skinner and made a few other swaps that I don’t think really improved the team at all. Mrazek is getting the start as a new acquisition, but I’ve learned from drafting him in fantasy once or twice that he seems very fragile mentally and things tend to snowball on him when something goes wrong. As we saw yesterday however, this is a new season so who knows what these goalies bring but I know that I’d be betting the over if I saw them going against one another last year so for now I have to stick with that script.
CBJ -128 Just a big difference in talent with only a small price to pay for the road juice. Detroit isn’t going anywhere. The Zetterberg era is over, and the years of playoff teams are now gone. Every franchise goes through this and now it’s the Wing’s turn. I like Columbus. I like the style they play, I like some of their young talent even though they stand to lose their cornerstone offensive guy this off-season or potentially before that. Last year this was a strong possession driven team with Bobrovsky providing his usual elite goal-tending. This is simply a game The Jackets should win even with Korpisalo in net and missing Seth Jones.

COL-105 Can the Avalanche build on last year’s amazing turnaround? If they can it will be on the backs of MacKinnon-Rantanen-Landeskog, one of the most dynamic lines in the league. Semyon Varlamev was outstanding on home ice last year posting a .933 Save% and 2.28 GAA. Corsi % is not a friend of this Minnesota team that did nothing this off-season other than get older. Expecting this talented, young Colorado team to continue to build and maintain home ice advantage they showed last year against a returning Minnesota roster that played below .500 on the road for the season. The Wild’s goalie Dubnyk also showed terrible home/road splits with his Save% and GAA falling to .907 and 2.97 away from Minny.
Big lean on new look Buffalo +115 against Boston playing a road back-to-back and starting Halak. Just can’t get myself to pull the trigger. One part of me wants to back Boston bouncing back and the other likes what could potentially be for Buffalo if things fall right for them.
Good luck, everybody!

I wanted to play Columbus as well but backed out without Bob. A tough opening night for us but I will bet without a doubt that we will bounce back. And hopefully tonight.
Good Luck this year.

I missed your NYI/CAR O so I took the Jets game O5.5 (Holy Bleep of a 3rd period). Thanks for COL and CBJ. I took singles and Parlayed them which was a nice bonus. Our luck was bound to turn around....Keep up the good work.

CBJ -1/2 +100 Ok, so both these teams are coming in playing the second of a b2b. Columbus won on the road with their backup goalie and get the advantage of home ice and Bobrovsky starting at home where last year he compiled a .929 Save% and 2.19 GAA. Carolina generated a ton of shots against the Isles AHL defense but fell on the road as Thomas Greiss forgot he was Thomas Greiss and played out of his mind. Canes deserved better last night as it was a strong effort, albeit against a very mediocre team, but they won’t get any sympathy here from The Jackets tonight who are simply a deeper, stronger team with better goaltending. Home team.
SJS -106 So the Sharks are another team that probably deserved better. They out-shot Anaheim 33-14 but saw bad Martin Jones show up for their home opener and that cost them a win. Credit John Gibson for bailing out his undermanned and outgunned Ducks teammates. Now San Jose travels into old Los Angelas where the Kings added another old player in Kovalchuk. I think he could boost their power play but Kopitar will regress from last year and I think the Sharks simply button things up a bit more after their last result and play a solid, rugged road game here to even up their record.
Good luck, everybody!

Agree or not NYBT I love reading your write ups. Today I certainly agree with game 1. Hopefully no one starts selling your hard work and kindness as it does happen.
