Charlotte Bobcats @ Los Angeles Lakers

As poor as the Bobcats have been in the early stages of the season, it surprises me to see the Lakers favoured by such a big margin heading into tonight's game.

The Bobcats have historically played the Lakers very tough over the last few years. In fact, Charlotte has won 8 of the last 13 in the series outright, covering the spread on 12 occasions during this period.

Another positive aspect for the Bobcats heading into tonight's game is the fact that they are expecting the return of two key players to their squad rotation. Guard Gerald Henderson and D.J. White are expected back for the Bobcats, with Henderson's return being the most important addition as he leads the team in scoring with 15 points per game.

Charlotte have played the role of the big underdog in two consecutive games so far this season, with Orlando and Chicago both listed as 12.5 home favourites. The Bobcats were successful against the spread on both of these occassions, losing by 13 points combined.

The Lakers have been fade material when favoured by double digits at home historically recording 14 wins and 37 losses against the spread when favoured by 11 points or more at the Staples Centre. The current Lakers team just doesn't have the same level of consistency, quality or depth in comparison to the team that had been so dominant in previous years.

It is also worth noting that the Lakers have failed to beat the Bobcats by more than 11 points in any of their previous 14 encounters dating back to 2005. I fully expect Charlotte to play tough, competitive basketball throughout tonight's game, most likely keeping the Lakers margin of victory to single digits.

Really dissapointing loss last night as the Bobcats were blown-out on the road against the Lakers.

In all honesty, it was inevitable that I was going to have a losing night somewhere down the line, and i'm still happy with my overall strike rate.

Will hopefully get back on track with a couple of winners tonight. I will be posting my selection shortly along with analysis.

Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks

The Heat will be out for revenge tonight following the Bucks' surprising 9 points road victory over Miami on Jan 22nd.

This selection is supported by a highly successful system tonight, considering that backing favourites of 3.5-9.5 points (Miami) who are out to avenge a loss to an opponent, providing that the foe is checking in following a blow-out victory by 20 points or more over a divisional rival, has produced an against the spread record of 17 wins and just 3 losses over the last 5 seasons for 85% winners.

The Spurs have recorded 10 wins and 1 loss on home court so far this season covering the spread on 7 of 11 occasions. They have defeated opponents by an impressive average of 12.5 points per game. The Rockets, meanwhile have recorded just 3 wins and 6 losses on the road this year, losing by an average margin of 5.8 points per game.

This doesn't appear to be a good spot for Houston either, considering that fading underdogs following a double digit loss in their previous outing as a favourite of 6 points or more, providing they have won between 51% and 60% of their games overall in the season and are facing a team with a winning record has led to an impressive record of 28 wins and just 8 losses dating back to 1996 for 77.78% winners.
