How about the Pies?! That was one hell of a start-finish effort and execution: tip my hat. They knew about Geelong's 4th Q dominance, and held them in check throughout. Needless to say, I didn't fare well in that one... but North pulled me through to make up most of it.

On to today.

Melbourne v. Brisbane -38.5 198.5 MCG
With all the issues on the Lions' side and all of the changes, that introduces too much of a random element into this match. Wished I would have grabbed the first line at a goal less than this. Dees could and probably win by 50+, but I'm not going to play. Lean the Under as well.

GWS v. WB -16.5 178.5 Spotless
Two of my favourite teams to watch in the comp. A courageous but depleted Doggies team away at the Giant's "true" home stadium. Giants will have taken notice of the Cats' downfall, though this rivalry for sure has not them lose focus. Execution and game planning can be the difference in relatively even sides talent-wise. Giants just have better athletes, are healthy, and at home on a beautiful day. Both teams very strong 1Q and 1H, but taking the Giants here for the reasons just listed. Already have game -15.5.

STK v. Essendon -28.5 172.5 Ethihad
After a 100+ drubbing out west, the Saints will come out firing and win this by 50+. Since Rd 2, the two DD losses have been followed by a 30 and 40 point win, respectively. Um, and they beat Essendon by 110 Rd 15 last year. :)

He's the heart of the team. If we had a Bolton for coach and one strong locker room leader like Hodgey, we'd actually compete in a final (as opposed to get mowed over).

Adding Dees 1Q -9.5. It's a rich line, no value for sure. My thinking is this:
- Dees play well at the G 1Q, getting smashed by Doggies, but beating Pies and Tiges there by DDs
- How well will the Lions play early with a bunch of new faces? Think the Dees' O is too strong

Having a good day, so have been looking to reinvest (or lose).

Saints aren't a good 1Q team, but the Bombers are even worse. The focus and motivation are clearly in the Saints corner. They have to win the 1st by DDs. They're a decent 1H team, not good. Again, Bombers are worse; their better footy generally in 2H. Line is now out to -35.5. :)

I was wasted (as usual) so I just played it safe and parlayed Melbourne and St. Kilda for the Sunday games.  Hahaha.  I like my AFL blasted, so much more fun to watch, but I get sloppy on the betting end.
