Aussie's FIBA World Cup Thread

Completely missed almost every single game, fell asleep on the couch and woke up to late..

Seeing if there is anything nice looking for tonight.

It's a tricky one...on to the second round we go with an interesting tournament structure where points carry over. Also the classification rounds where teams can't do much at this World Cup but it still counts towards their qualification for the 2020 Olympics

Nothing too much stands out outside of Argentina -13.5 against Venezuala. 

I am finding it difficult to tell if Venezuala played well, or China made them look good, because China were deplorable.

Argentina should have no problems here and will play hard as these games all mean something in progressing through the tournament. 

That's one of the games I am eyeing off Peekay. It is a very different structure but good because the countries still have something to play for. Was thinking the over again in that Argentina game as they are coming off a pretty poor game vs the Russians (offensively I mean) and the Venezuelans stopped scoring as it was a blowout vs China and didn't really need to push anything as they had the match won early on. This will be a different test for them against Argentina

 Argentina vs Venezuela: Over 152.5

Prior to that game vs the Russians where Argentina scored 69 points they scored 94 and 95 against Nigeria and South Korea. Think they can at least hit 85 in this game and Venezuela can score at least 68 for this to hit. Venezuela ranked a nice 20th in the World compared to the Russians who were 10th before the WC started. I think Venezuela only allowed 59 points because China couldn't hit anything but completely different against this Argentine squad.

I was last there in 2012, went to Carcassonne, Lyon, Orange, Nimes, Nice. Montpellier & Avignon. Absolutely loved it. Drove around. Went back in 2015 but went to Paris and then headed down to Spain and visited San Sebastian which was absolutely gorgeous and then went across to Bilbao and Santander. Nice trip. Love Europe mate. Switzerland is stunning as well. A gorgeous little village called Lauterbrunnen was just magnificient. Trying to get back to Europe again next year but the Australia Dollar is so weak right now.

Ah nice you went to some nice cities in France and Spain is great in summer , love the vibes. 

I'm from Lyon btw , did you liked it? It's quite a nice and clean city , big enough to do what you want but without the negative aspects as Paris with the traffic, stressed people etc...and we have good sports team in rugby soccer and basketball.

Does see high BigD and not to sway you away but they did play recently in a friendly and that game had 191 points in it. This game has some meaning to it but can't see much defense being played.

Mate summer time in Europe is absolutely amazing. The weather is perfect, not too crazy hot like some of the summer days we get here in Oz. Some days you can't leave your house because its around 45 degrees Celsius.

Loved Lyon, really nice city and it had the big city feel to it but not the craziness of Paris or Marseille. I remember they days where Lyon FC won 7 titles straight in the Ligue 1

Hey Aussie! Any opinion on Australia -22,5 ?Australia have worst point difference in this trio .If lithuania beat France today and France beat Australia in last round ,Australia is out if not destroy Dominican Republic?

Hi, I won’t be touching this game but I can’t trust the Aussies with such a large spread. They barely got past Senegal whilst laying -39.5. Only thing is, can DR keep up with the in scoring? 

Yeah,maybe best option skip that game ..I really like Lithuania today ,For France this is first big test ,France have much problem on playmaker position,i think Lithuanian is more complete team at this moment..

I have no words or explanation for that US game last night. The Greeks could not hit anything and the US just played slow ball.

Hoping that this game is different 

 Italy vs Puerto Rico: Over 152.5

 Iran vs Phillipines: Over 156.5

The Phillipines haven't looked like playing defense at all this WC and the Iranian's love to push the pace (close to 70 shots during the qualifiers. Think we see a no defense kind of game and just need both teams to hit their shots whilst playing at a good fast pace which I believe they will tonight.

 China vs Nigeria: Over 154.5

Chinese have been one big disappointment this WC and Nigerians can score quick points on nations that aren't the top nations such as Serbia, USA etc you get my drift. The Chinese have barely hit 70 in their games during the WC but I think its time we see some decent shooting from them with the Nigerians also landing their shots.

The Puero Ricans lose a game when they were up by 26 and flying. That is just an insane comeback by the Italians

Well now they have.  Good game.....and it just scraped over 

....by 30.5 points..

Nice... These “classification” games seem to be going over due to a lot less pressure..
