Just so Biscuit can have some action on the SB, I am having a contest to see who can predict the final score.
There is no fee to enter.
Only one guess per degenerate.
Anyone who correctly guesses the final score wins a handsome prize.
If (when) no one correctly guesses the final score, a more humble prize will be awarded to the degenerate who is closest, but said degenerate must have the proper winning team.
Only those who have posted in the PB previously may enter the contest.
Need a minimum of 5 people participating, otherwise all guesses will be returned sans parting gifts.
A few years back I had a couple of similar type contests, and I do actually pay the winners. Off the top of my head, the only winner I can think about who is still posting here is Kurshka. If he pops in, he can attest that I am a man of my word. It is worth playing.
Good luck, fella's

might be better to start a new thread for the contest. i'm not sure the newsletter is getting many views at this point. that two week period since the last game seems to last forever.
anyway, my prediction:
Carolina wins 26 - 17
good luck with everyone's bets

There are some serious mismatches between Denver WR's/TE's and the Carolina DB's.
Peyton takes advantage.
Putting that aside, as well as any biases towards either team, I hope that most football fans get a moment today to reflect upon the career of one of the greatest QB's the sport has ever known.
Peyton Manning has been incredible on the field, as well as the way he carried himself off the field.
His legacy is already written, and this game won't change that. But as a fan of the NFL I would love to see Manning win this last game, and show the world how one handles himself with class, dignity, and professionalism.
I've never been a huge fan/follower of Peyton's, but I respect history, and the possibility of moments/games that have the potential to be talked about forever. Today we get that opportunity. Try to enjoy it, should the 'special' happen.
Enjoy the game, fella's

Thanks Hugh. Since my 15 year old who knows nothing about sports, but probably has more money in the bank than me said Carolina 28-12. So I'll go with that.

i hated peyton in college, arrogant redneck that he was. but, if you have any appreciation for the nfl, you have to the most respect for him as an nfl qb. i saw him live twice. watching him live and seeing the whole field, you really get an appreciation for how he sees the defense, makes adjustments and gets the ball away to the right receivers (and often the right RB when he had james), so quickly. in his prime, i'm not sure anyone has ever been better than him at this. he was soo good at this in his prime (which lasted many years), that it didn't matter what the defense did and it didn't matter how good the pass rush was. in fact, it seemed like he thrived on the other team blitzing.
all that being said, f*ck 'im and the volunteers. go panthers.

Peyton is the first QB in NFL history to take on a successful role as a player/coach. He's been the offensive coordinator for both the Colts and Broncos. It's fair to say he redefined the QB position and raised the bar to another level. Those that say his career is defined by his inability to win enough big games are wrong. His teams lost because his genius masks other deficiencies. His teams won because of him, not in spite of him. At his current age and physical ability, it's time for a team to finally carry him. Denver is good enough to give it a go today.

He gained a fan for life when he asked NFL to be allowed to wear black high tops to honor Johnny Unitas, was denied permission and did so anyway.
