You can wager Carolina 1000 different ways on SB Sunday... you can bet all of the props for the Carolina offense and defense and you cannot miss. This team is so much better than their competition. I have been riding them all season.
I will make one large play for Carolina -4.5 or whatever it is. I like my wagering simple. Win big or lose big.
go easy with those super bowl props. you know that's how vegas gets you.

The injury to Davis should be of concern to those who are backing the Panthers.
As of now he is saying the broken arm will not prevent him from playing in the SB. If he can play effectively, I'm not confident in Denvers ability to move the ball consistently on this Carolina D.
My initial thought is that the Panthers win easily
i'm just starting my reading now, but it looks like davis has a broken arm but they aren't sure exactly where or how bad yet.
i'm going to assume he's out, which is a big deal. but, short of newton pulling a eugene robinson the night before the game and getting arrested, i'm sticking with carolina for now.

I guess I'm in the minority by taking Denver and the points. Love their defense and Manning on a 2 week rest/preparation. If Davis plays, he will not be 100%. I can't see how Manning doesn't come to play after losing his last 2 super bowls. He'll be prepared for this one and his teammates will be more than ready for his last game as pro.
This game will be closer than a lot of people think. Just my 2 cents.

Yes you are in the minority - that is for good reason, you are on the wrong side.
I highlighted a portion of your post that is very telling. You are a fan of Manning. That and $5 will get you a cup at Starbucks. Mental preparation and experience is definitely important, but you also need athletic ability. Manning is at best the 2nd best quarterback on the roster, and that is only because we have not seen the 3rd stringer.
There is another very important reason that people will be backing Denver. It is a clash of cultures. Cam Newton is polarizing - I don't really understand it, but it is true. You love or hate this guy. I love him. He is by 1000 miles far more capable than Manning.
Defense wins championships - that is fact. Stats tell us that Denver is the very best in the league, and I believe it. Stats also tell us that Carolina is the 2nd best in the league, and I believe that as well. I will take the far more explosive and far more talented QB with the 2nd best defense all day long. I don't think the point spread will be in play at all. I just may put a play on the alt line of like Carolina -10.5 +500 or whatever it is at the time. Vegas does not print free money.... at least not very often.

my head hurts every time i see someone say they are taking denver because everyone assumed NE would beat denver yesterday so vegas is going to do something or other in this game.
but, the two things that scare me are the two things you mention: denver's defense and a well prepared manning.
i'd be surprised to see a blowout. my guess would be a 23-17 type of score.

again, i don't want to compare yesterday's NE game to the super bowl much but it was interesting to see manning take a couple of bad sacks when in the past he could throw the ball away. i expect those carolina defenders to get there quicker than what NE has, for the most part.

I would put some coin on yes.

I mixed up this odds - it should read something like this
Manning leaves the SB on a stretcher:
Yes +250
No -300
I do think Manning will get batted around like a piniata - and it will have a great deal to do with the impending blowout. But I also think getting injured to the extent of leaving on a stretcher is a bit of a longshot. He is a tough dude and has pride. No disrespect at all to Manning, he is just going to get is azz kicked and it will not be pretty for Denver fans

Like I mentioned, it's just my 2 cents. I'm not particularly a big fan of Manning, but I would like to see him win and retire. It makes a good story. I wager very small (5 AND 10 timers) as it's more of a form of entertainment than income for me. If I have a losing week, it's not breaking the bank or making me lose sleep.
I just want to see a good game and hopefully win the office box pool.

I get it... I'm just trying to help you. So you don't wager big - that is what everybody should be doing so perfect. But if you are going to wager, you should be wagering with your head and not your heart - at least that is the way I think. Even if it is only for $20
You said you just want to see a good game. If good game means competitive to late in the 4th quarter, I really don't think that is going to happen. I'm not the person who decides, and I have been proven wrong more than a few times (I wagered Denver a couple years ago when Seattle destroyed them).
So why not place a winning wager? Unless you truly think that Denver is the better team. If you think that, you should wager Denver. But don't place a losing wager because you like Manning.

After sitting at 6 for a couple days, I see some places back down to 5.5 now.
I can still get a 6, so I'm locking in now.
Den +6 (70% of my wager)
Den +210 (30% of my wager)
Last Monday I was confident that Carolina would spank the Bronco's.
While I would love to breakdown some match-ups and provide stats to support my reasoning for changing my pick, the truth is this is a gut play, nothing more.

Hugh is on to the "Vegas fix!"
Just kidding of course. You're playing a beneficial line at 6. I still think Carolina wins to appease the minority interests. All of a sudden Cam's race seems to be an issue, while the Hispanic vote recognizes Ron Rivera as one of them. Poor Greg Olsen the tidy whitey tight end who wins this game for the Panthers. He'll be snubbed for the MVP in favor of a a Samoan, Star Lotuleilei just to be "inclusive."

Holding out for the hook, come friday afternoon i'll have one eye glued to the lines.I believe Broncos best chance for victory starts with their O line being able to put a hat on Luke.

college. she's alright.
not to get into internet stories but my best story along these lines was hooking up with mark wohlers' girlfriend around the time he went to garbage. the timelines is as follows:
1. 1997 Mark Wohlers crushes it for the braves with 30+ saves;
2. 1997-1998 CDS hooks up with Mark Wolhers' girlfriend at holiday party and thereafter;
3. 1998 - present Mark Wohlers goes fuckin crazy, has 8 saves in 1998, has a 27.00 era in 1999 and never returns to form. Last seen losing his starting job in an over 30 softball league.
right or wrong, i credit myself for this.

Outstanding!
It beats my partying with Tom Petty and Stan Lynch at the Sand Bar in Crescent Beach many years ago. Lynch invited the 15 or so patrons that night to his house after Petty paid the tab and left. My wife and I went. Some drunk dude kept trying to sing "I Need to Know" and Stan sent him to the beach out the back door with a beer and a drum stick to use as a "microphone". The rest of us had a nice time talking about sea turtles and other cool stuff. Not sure if drunk dude drowned, got arrested, but no one heard from him again. Good times!
