Didnt get back to bump the thread in time but as you all saw, Bryant couldnt help himself with the shots once again and guess what happened? Another loss.
Make that 2-7 ATS since Phil Jackson decided to give up.
Congrats to Lamar Odom who posted the first LA Lakers triple double since... Well Lamar Odom.

Pretty simple to handicap this game fellas. Kinda like vanzack's theory of which way will they go when guys get thrown in the box.
Will the Lakers play TEAM basketball and get an easy victory? Or will Bryant go for the shots and the team is totally thrown off again?
I mean really guys. The guy is single handidly making guys rich. Now 2-8 ATS since Phil Jackson said they were going to start going to him more early in games which allows for the other team to keep it close because Bryant's shot selection is so bad. Not only does his shot selection lead to fast breaks and easy buckets for the opposing squad but it also throws the rest of the Lakers off because guys dont want to be out there for 40+ minutes with the sole purpose of cleaning up after Bryant playing 4 against 5 on defense and just sitting around on offense.
You Kobe lovers will learn one day. Hope you havent been playing on the Lakers since I made this thread though as I tried to warn you guys what was going to happen.
But its never too late. Plenty of room left on the FADE train because people are still in denial about the reason why the Lakers are struggling, LOL.

while kobe may be the best player in the league (most talent) he certainly does NOT make his team better...which is what its all about
What? You mean to tell me that a team cant get better with one guy taking more shots than 11 other players combined? Then dogging it on defense letting the team cover 5 guys? Quit kidding around man. You know the rest of the team couldnt even make Florida's national championship team let alone the NBA. You're just a Kobe Hater
Cecil,
Hope you've been on the FADE train for the past couple of weeks. You'd have enough to pay off the mortgage

The FADE train almost took a knick tonight but Damien Wilkins didnt want it to stop.
2-9 since I said the Lakers were going to struggle to cover. Gotta love a coach that lets you know the future like future HOF Phil Jackson. And you gotta love a player than keeps the games tight because of lack of understanding of the game. Another round of applause...
Phil Jackson
Kobe Bryant

Hustle.... blanket statements like "a player than keeps the games tight because of lack of understanding of the game" is ignorant and I know you're better than that. Tonight Bryant imposed his will on his team which was offensively uninspired and lazy throughout the first 3 quarters. He played a phenomenal game and to shortchange him by using ATS stats is lame. Kobe carried his team to a win tonight and, if anything, he single-handedly accountedly for the 2nd half cover. Coming from another former hoops player....give credit where it is due

Tsizzle,
That's not a blanket statement. That's been the story of the Lakers for as far as I remember. I dont know what level you played on but you should know when players jack shots early in the shot clock, out of rhythm, and has poor shot selection, it HELPS the other team. How many of Bryant's shots can be deemed as turnovers because they lead to a score for the opposing team?

kobe is extremmely inefficent with his game, like hustle said "Not only does his shot selection lead to fast breaks and easy buckets for the opposing squad but it also throws the rest of the Lakers off because guys dont want to be out there for 40+ minutes with the sole purpose of cleaning up after Bryant playing 4 against 5 on defense and just sitting around on offense" kobe is a moron who is a volume shooter not a great player, who understand who to set his team up to win

I was a walk-on and 2 year letter-man...As for Bryant I think he disrupts the offensive flow with his tendency to hold on to the ball but, regardless of his fundamental shortcomings, he is clearly a once in a generation talent. My high school SG went to college with me on scholarship and I had played with him since grade school (along with AAU ball)...and to kick/rely on your best player is natural. Personally I feel there is such a huge gap between what I've seen and the league makes it stupid for me to critique. As for Bryant, he is a great talent and threads like this are great for ATS tracking purposes, but to use this to solely criticicize Bryant is trite.

Tsizzle,
Congrats on your status as a collegiate athlete. Especially playing basketball. Seems like only a few around here can make that claim. Would definitely love to hear more input about the game from you as a lot of people around here dont understand what is going on out on the court.
Bryant's problems are many as he lacks basic fundamental understanding of the game, but most players in the NBA have that problem. It shows in his case because he dominates the ball throughout the entire game which is more of a longterm hurt than help to his team. I mean lets be honest here, if he is not on fire from the field, his style of play puts his teammates in uncompromising situations, and I knew that would happen as soon as Phil Jackson said they were going to go to him early and often and that is why I made this thread because I knew their games would be close because of that. And another reason they dont cover is their defense is terrible. They only have 2 guys in the starting lineup (Lamar Odom and Luke Walton) that put effort on the defensive end. Smush Parker is a decent defender but he likes to go for the steal too much. Bryant also has this problem and he constantly overplays his man to get beat for back cuts and they just dont have the anchor on defense to alter/block shots like in the past. Lakers' big men are usually absorbing late contact and causing personal fouls because the perimeter D is so weak, they have to constantly get in help.
As far as relying on one player... That's not the design of the triangle offense and when a guy freelances, the thing is all of of wack. But the Lakers problems are not on really on offense but on defense.
This thread isnt to bash any player. It's just pointing out why the team isnt covering. But the main people in that are Jackson and Bryant.

Somebody asked me earlier, "Does the FADE train operate on Sunday?" Well yes, like I said above the FADE train will be running for the rest of the regular season.
* A note about the game is the Lakers actually beat the Suns by 8 at home earlier this season but the best player in the universe Kobe Bryant did not play. Since he's playing tonight (and the rest of his team sucks) the Lakers should win this game by atleast 20 right? I mean the best player ever is worth atleast 12 points right? Let's watch and see what happens

I couldn't agree with you more. I have posted on this thread for some time now......that if Ko Me is the greatest player in the NBA....and people are trying to say he is the BEST EVER, then I have been saying to them that the the Lakers should be better....PERIOD. I do not buy look who he is playing with. When Shaq got traded to Miami, people was saying they lost Caron Butler, there isn't much there for Shaq to work with......bottom line --- if you are a great one (and kobe is damn good), the lakers should be better.
They are a 7th or 8th seed -- one and done in the playoffs this year --- and people will still say he is the greatest of all time. Kobe bashing aside, nice thread on whathas been happening to the team ---- I'm sure Ko Me is averaging 40pts a game on this slide 4 sure!

Make that 10-2 ATS if you've faded the Lakers since I said they wouldnt be covering much anymore for the rest of the season. You are now a LOCK to be + money (even if they win their remaning 5 games ats) if you were a passenger on the FADE train backed when I started it up a little over 3 weeks ago and, unless you are greedy, its no need to fade them for the rest of the regular season.
ct1019,
Nice post. And you're right. His style of play is better suited as a 2nd or 3rd option on the team because let's face it, he doesnt make guys better and he doesnt improve the play of the team.
GL with the rest of your season fellas.

That's great and I'm happy for you and BLING. Too bad he also shot down the Lakers from winning as well.
Like I said when I started this thread after Phil Jackson's comments. He knows his team isnt that good and he knows Bryant cant carry the team far in the playoffs and because of all the injuries he decided to shut things down for the rest of the year.
Im shocked so many people kept losing their money betting on this team when other guys who've been riding the FADE train (although its only about 4 that were along the whole trip) are planning vacations for the summer, paying off their mortgage, and getting a 3rd car for the family.
This thread sure got quiet though. All the stats in the world and all the delusional homer thinking around this site couldnt have seen this coming. So I wonder how a guy like me who "doesnt know shit about sports" predicted it? Funny how the TRUTH always prevails in the end huh? LOL

Hustle I'm a Kobe fan/supporter and laker fan as you know and totally disagree w/you on SOME(not all) of your points and we've agreed to disagree, but gotta give credit where credit is due. You said fade my Lakers and you were right. I haven't went 10-2, but I did get some of that PHX today.
