It was disproportionately killing black people looong before George Floyd and protest. And there is no definitive answer why. There are the obvious reasons. Less access to comprehensive healthcare, higher rates of obesity, diabetes. I think these all factor in but I also follow a Ph.D in nutrition who posits that it has something to do with a vitamin D deficiency. Who knows but I will say that I take a vitamin D supplement.

Trump's poor leadership has made a terrible situation worse.
His constant denial of it's existence & playing down it's danger was the wrong message to send as we still have people walking around without masks infecting others which puts heavier demand on our healthcare system nationwide.
Unfortunately, he surrounds himself with weak people and "yes" men/women who perpetuate his ego stroking needs.

You’re comparing apples to oranges.
12,000 American deaths were caused by the swine flu. They died FROM swine flu.
200,000 Americans died WITH (not from) corona.
From April 2009 to April 2010 CDC estimated there were 60 million cases, 275,000 hospitalizations and 12,500 deaths.
If you counted the number of people that died WITH swine flu, the number would be astronomically higher.
If a person with corona gets killed in a motorcycle accident, that is counted as a corona death.
If a person with swine flu got killed in a motorcycle accident, that is not counted as a swine flu death.
It’s amazing how uneducated the public is on this subject. I hope this helps clear up some of your obvious confusions.

The US had an estimated 60,000,000 cases of the swine flu in 09/10. 18.75% of the population. And 275,000 hospitalizations.
Roughly 3,000,000 Americans die every year.
Oregon Health Authority (OHA) considers Covid-19 deaths to be:
“Deaths in which a patient hospitalized for any reason within 14 days of a positive test dies in the hospital or within 60 days following discharge.
And deaths in which Covid-19 is listed as a contributing cause (not primary cause) on a death certificate.”
If we were to use the same standards for the swine flu — how many people died WITH swine flu?

One explanation for the low death rate in Asia is that the Asian population may have a higher degree of exposure to corona virus colds and therefore have more preexisting immunity.
That is far more likely than because Japan did X and the US did Y.
Preexisting immunity may explain why we have so many people with very mild symptoms or asymptomatic.

No evidence nationwide protests are organized by democrats. Besides, protests aren't a major cause of coronavirus infection according to studies by Harvard, Rutger and Northeastern universities. Low increase of covid cases in cities with high rates of protests. Risk is reduced by outdoor ventilation, mask wearing and protesters walking. Indoor proximity of people is riskier than outdoor activity. A mobile crowd is safer than a stationary one. However Trump's push to reopen economy prematurely has lead to far more infections. His rallies add to virus outbreaks. Schools and stores report more infections. Now covid cases are increasing in most states instead of declining.
