You be the judge if this "smash & grab" is newsworthy of national coverage ; this stuff wasn't happening Pre-COVID, though, and we all know why (Law & Order was more enforced)... But it's "Still"  happening in both SF and here in SoCAL, both LA and OC upper-class communities, too.  I'd call it brazen "violent crime" when these hoodrats enter jewelry stores w/ sledgehammers in broad daylight w/ customers in these stores.

When the Buffalo shooter was arrested we knew on the same day who he was, where he was from, and he had a racist manifesto. 

When the Philly shooter was arrested all we knew was he was about 40yrs old. About 24 hrs later his name was released. Why the wait? I suspect to delete his social media posts. Somehow the New York Post found them before deletion. If they hadn't we would have never known this guy was BLM activist who also posed with a bra on under his shirt. So he appears to be a BLM cross dressing gun toting crazy. Now check CNN or the New York Times. No mention of his bra post. And all his media posts apparently deleted. Who deleted it so fast?  How about the fact his guns appeared to be illegally obtained? The Independent in the UK said so but you won't find that here. All the little shit that makes all the difference. Now they say he has mental problems. He dislikes Biden so he has libertarian views according to the NYT. So laughable.

The shooter, who had also posted racist writings, then killed himself.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters told a news conference that the attack that left two men and one woman dead was definitely “racially motivated."

Jacksonville shooter fits common profile. Usually an angry young man on a planned suicide mission to avenge local grievance. Family discovered his plan too late to alert police.  He has no criminal record except for domestic violence. Previous psych evaluation didn't prevent him from legally obtaining guns.  

Huffpost reports that DeSantis was heckled at memorial for victims of the shooting.  Critics blame him for making guns more available and divisive anti-woke politics against black history.

Another mass shooting. This time in Lewiston, Maine. So far dead is 22 and counting. The killer is a shooting instructor with mental issues. Just peachy.

FBI reports homicide rate has declined at historic 6% rate in 2022 and probably 7-10% in 2023 according to over 18,000 police departments.  Despite fluctuations, violent crime nationwide has stayed at the same level since 2011 after previous 20 years of declines.  But public perception has not kept pace with reality.  Gallup polls show most Americans believe violent crime has increased in all but 4 of the last 24 years.  Politics  and medias enhance fears.

Did I read correctly that this mass killer is a former military vet, and trained firearms instructor?

Most gun violence is committed by sane people.  If all insane people are locked up, probably gun violence might be reduced by 4% in the US.  Generally, states with more guns and weaker gun control tend to have more gun violence.  Since gun violence is hard to prevent, tough gun control for everyone seems to work best in most countries.

Hours before the Maine mass shooting, the Senate approved an amendment that would scale back background check requirements for some veterans and service members with mental health issues. The amendment was authored by Republicans John Kennedy and Jerry Moran.

What could possibly go wrong?

Sure, I suppose if you include Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, and all  the other inner-cities in this country, that statement is correct.  But who do you think is committing most of these crimes.  .....Hmmmm.    Riiiight ? 

Let's get serious.  That's not the issue we're talking about with guns.. 

So, let's shift gears to "mass shootings" which is what always what gets the media's attention.     Do you think these people have their noggins screwed on straight ?   No, these are people ARE NOT SANE.   Period, end of story. 

Mental Health Facilities need to be given a greater priority in this country.   I changed my position on this a few years back, realizing that some people are just not fit for society, a jail, or a hospital...  

Reality is that people with mental illness accounts for a tiny proportion of mass shootings according to Columbia mass murder database.  Other risk factors such as substance abuse or life crisis account for a great deal more shootings.   Half of all mass shootings are associated with no red flags.  No mental illness, no drug or alcohol and no history of criminality.  Since mass shootings are hard to prevent, this is why it is important to manage guns availability.  US is unique as the only rich country with high rate in mass shootings.

Hey so are you going to get your bullhorn out and yell like an unhinged jackass at all the Maine Republicans who “let this happen?” After all, the “good guy with a gun turned out to be a bad guy with a gun” this time (he’s an arms instructor for the Army for those who didn’t know), so the leeches can’t trot that easily disproven theory out this time.
