The US is averaging about 19,455 new cases over the past seven days, a whopping 47% increase from the week prior, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

If a state achieves a goal of 60% or 70% or 80% vaccination, while continued infections still occuring daily among those 30% who are UNvaccinated, a surge among that segment from the more infectious Delta variant *PLUS* increasing close-contact socialization in crowds, INCREASES the infection rate in the state from the prior 14 day avg. Fairly simple math.
