Biden is right. Unvaccinated people is the problem. Not the vaccinated. Vast majority of virus transmissions come from unvaccinated people. 99% of covid deaths and hospitalizations occur in unvaccinated population. Vaccinated people are far less likely to be infected. They are 20 times more protected than the unvaccinated from becoming severely ill. 7 times more protected against mild symptoms. Mask mandates are necessary for everyone because of the unvaccinated.
Simple fact.
But this DELTA variant is a curve ball on the outside corner for sure.
The trump vaccines were designed to counter the original strain of the virus. They can't possibly know how a virus will mutate when manufacturing those vaccines.
We also know, that if covid-original flavor or the DELTA variant (or any other variant) is allowed to spread unchecked as a result of failing to achieve herd immunity (via early vaccinations) then those viruses and their more soon-to-mutate offspring will at some point become immune to the current trump-vaccines and we are back at GROUND ZERO once again. The Biden admin sees this well and is making every reasonable effort to get people vaccinated but it has since stalled bigly -- largely because of those REFUSING the trump-vaccine. There's no mixed messaging there. They've been saying for several months to get the trump-vaccine and bent over backwards to make it easier.

UK, JUNE 28th, out of 117 deaths from the Delta Variant, 50 of those deaths were fully vaccinated.

The 75% in Massachusettes was a single outbreak. Who knows maybe 95% of those exposed were vaxed.

Numbers from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health show there have been 6,373 cases of COVID-19 in fully vaccinated individuals as of July 24, a significant jump from the 5,166 cases reported as of July 17 and 4,450 reported a week earlier.
6373-5166=1207 1207/3161= .3818 * 100 = 38.18% of postive cases were vaccinated from July 17th to the 23rd.
Four infected vaccinated people from that outbreak were hospitalized.

The main reason why US Center for disease control change mask guidelines is the increase in infections caused by the unvaccinated.
Misleading to suggest more deaths or hospitalizations among vaccinated people while ignoring age differences. Most fully vaccinated people are seniors normally at higher risk. Whereas unvaccinated people are often young and lower risk. But in the same age group, unvaccinated are mainly higher risk than vaccinated. In highly vaccinated Massachusetts, the number of covid hospitalizations are down 95% since January 2021.
Big picture is missing. Covid cases, hospitalizations and deaths have declined significantly in US, Canada, UK and Israel since vaccination began. For examples, vaccination prevented 60,000 UK deaths and 270,000 US deaths according to Public health England and Commonwealth fund. Since disease is largely preventable, public health experts consider the unvaccinated a bigger problem than delta variant. So the focus must be on the unvaccinated.
