In a pandemic, goal of public health is to protect population while minimizing risks. Universal vaccination is the most prudent policy here. Better safe than sorry. Several reasons why most doctors still recommend vaccines for people who recover from infection. First, natural immunity is unreliable and varies widely by individual. In University of Pennsylvania study, 35% of infected people failed to develop anti-bodies compared to none of the vaccinated. Vaccines give more consistent protection against severe illness and people don't have to get sick to benefit.
Center for disease control found unvaccinated people previously infected are twice as likely as the fully vaccinated to be reinfected. Secondly, vaccines are more reliable, predictable and feasible in protecting population. Duration of natural immunity is uncertain. Third, not enough evidence that natural immunity is superior. There is some research which show updated vaccines protect better against new variants. Compared to vaccinated infected people, unvaccinated infected people are far more likely to be reinfected or hospitalized.
University of Oxford found infections can weaken immune response. Fourth, no country in the world where natural immunity has been able to prevent waves of infections. Fifth, harder to test natural immunity than to track vaccination in large population. Risk that people misdiagnosed would remain vulnerable to infection while assuming they are immune. Food drug administration say anti-body tests shouldn't be used to evaluate level of immunity. Sixth, strongest protection combines infection plus vaccination.
The duration of the vaccine is obviously uncertain as well.
It goes against science to fire people for not getting vaccinated that have antibodies and that is exactly what Democrats are recommending. They have better protection than people that are just vaccinated.
Fauci said that the vaccine was 95-100% effective. This lie led people to believe they were immune and as we now know, they were vulnerable.

Russia has declared a lockdown week because hospitals are being overwhelmed due to record number of covid cases and deaths. Oddly, there are some similarities between US and Russia. Both countries approve vaccines early. Plenty of vaccines. But high political polarization and distrust. Too much vaccine hesitancy and lower vaccination rates. Premature easing of public health precautions. Mostly pandemic of the unvaccinated but they don't take responsibility. Hundreds of thousands of deaths could have been prevented if US and Russia have done as well as China, Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan or New Zealand in pandemic.

Says Florida has the lowest COVID numbers in the United States. But don't give DeSantis any credit!!! Didn't you know COVID comes in waves (two month waves they say-that's false) but it does come in waves, different times for different regions.

Then the author tries to compare Florida to California. Florida had a July-Aug wave last year, California didnot. California wave comes in December.

Thanks to vaccination covid cases, hospitalizations and deaths are trending downward across the US in recent months. But despite benefit of vaccines, Florida is the only state where more people have died from coronavirus in 2021 than in 2020. Florida covid death rate increased while California covid death rate decreased. Problem is weaker public health measures to protect population. Miami Herald newspaper criticizes DeSantis mishandling of pandemic response as "crazyville."
Most people lead busy lives and depend on the media to give them the news. Way too busy to fact check they believe most all of what they are told.

A large number of unvaccinated workers say they'll quit their jobs
if their employers follow upcoming federal rules to battle the pandemic.
A survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a think tank concentrating
on health issues, found 37% of unvaccinated workers say they will quit
their jobs if forced to either get vaccinated *OR* take weekly Covid tests.
The Biden administration is drafting workplace safety rules that will
require all businesses with 100 or more employees to mandate the
trump-vaccines for their employees *OR* frequently test workers.
That large employer safety rule would apply to about 80 million
US workers, or two-thirds of all workers nationwide.
