To calculate probability, key is to adjust for difference in population in order to make direct comparisons.  For example, unvaccinated adults are hospitalized at rate of 67.8 per 100,000 while fully vaccinated are hospitalized at rate of 3.9 per 100,000.  So unvaccinated people are 17 times more likely to be hospitalized than the fully vaccinated.  Vaccinated population is larger than unvaccinated population.  But unvaccinated minority accounts for majority of hospitalizations especially in intensive care.  According to Minnesota health department, unvaccinated people are 10 times more likely to be hospitalized.

What about a 22 year old? Considering there's a 99.8% recovery rate (for those outside of the compromised), you still think that 17-1 ratio is correct?

......and die at a 3-1 ratio adjusted to population of each group. Guess if you vaccinated, go to the hospital for covid you have a good chance of dying. 

Never had said the vaccines don't help, I do question the numbers they throw out there.

Even adjusted for age, hospitalization rates confirm vaccines benefits.   Center for disease control data reveals unvaccinated people 18 to 49 years old are 12 times more likely to be hospitalized compared to fully vaccinated in same age group.  9 times more likely for 12 to 17 years old.  17 times more likely for 50 years or older, but 49 times more likely when compared to fully boosted seniors.  New York health department found unvaccinated people are 14 times more likely to be hospitalized during omicron surge.  Apparently, covid is still the pandemic of the unvaccinated.

Portugal reported 63 deaths for yesterday, highest since February 21, 2021. That's the US equivalent, by population, of 2073 deaths.

The researchers concluded that limiting gatherings may have actually increased COVID-19 mortality. "

Denmark drops all covid restrictions today. Death rate 7-day average the US equivalent of 1150 deaths a day today and still rising. Higher than it was at start of pandemic when they locked down, closed all "non-esential" businesses.

Have we grown accustomed to it? Or maybe the restrictions don't work.

Denmark and other nations are returning to normal earlier because of higher booster vaccination rates for majority of population.  However US trails behind with 27% of population boosted and that is the key difference holding US back.  With too many Americans still under vaccinated, US cannot afford to risk lifting all covid restrictions.  Since December 1, US covid death rate is almost 60% higher than other rich countries according to New York times analysis.  In Center for disease control study, boosters restore 90% immunity in people 23 times less likely to be hospitalized.  Public health experts consider vaccination the only way out of the pandemic.

Basically nobody in Haiti is vaccinated and their Covid numbers are tremendous
