Trump's undermining of public health experts is one of the reasons why US has the most covid cases and deaths of any country in the world.  Instead of a national strategy, he prefers to mislead people and reopen economy prematurely.  Doctor Birx is distressed about how long she would remain on white house coronavirus task force.  Trump calls her pathetic and her role has been diminished after contradicting his positive spin.  He has a bad habit of replacing people who tells the truth.  Doctor Fauci has been outcasted. Meanwhile his replacement is unqualified Doctor Atlas who has no expertise in pandemics, public health or infectious diseases.  Trump needs scrapgoats for his failures in handling the pandemic.

We have so many cases because we did so much testing. 

We have so many deaths because of the way we count deaths. 

We count deaths as dying WITH Covid. In every other country you have to die FROM Covid to be a corona death. 

To be a flu death in the US you have to die FROM the flu.

Trump's claim has been debunked by politifact, factcheck.org, USAtoday, Statnews, NPR, Propublica, CNN and New York times.  No.  More testing doesn't create more cases.  Actually, more infections create more cases.   If increased testing is the only reason for more cases, the percentage of positive tests should decrease.  Instead number of cases have increased faster than the increase in testing.  This is confirmed by other indicators such as increases in hospitalizations and deaths.  In fact, true number of cases would be higher without testing and contact tracing to reduce virus spread.  Public health experts say US need to do more testing because of greater virus spread.  Germany and South Korea don't need to do as much testing because of success in containing virus spread early.  According to Harvard, millions of daily tests are necessary to reopen US economy safely.

Let's say numbers are so high because we test the most, as nonsensical as that is. Would the numbers cease to be high if we stopped testing. We only test people who exhibit symptoms or who have come into contact with someone affected. Neither here nor there to me and not what I wanted to address.

Deaths. Everyone loves to talk about how deaths are counted. What constitutes a fraudulent death vs. what is a legitimate death. Let's, for shits and giggles, say half of those are false. And half, even with other factors, can be predominantly attributed to covid-19. 100,000 is a ton. True, it is comparable to a bad flu year but with one caveate: It would be 100,000 after more or less shutting the country down. Wearing masks, social distancing. No church, no bars, no sporting events, no school. If after that effort, we only had 50,000 deaths, 25% of what is reported, that would still be extremely alarming.

In August, CDC Director Robert Redfield said the U.S. could get the coronavirus pandemic under control in 4-12 weeks if at least 90% of Americans wore masks.

On Friday, Redfield said the U.S. is “nowhere near the end” of the pandemic.

I guess that means we are "not rounding the corner" as Piggy has been spewing the last couple of weeks.

Disney announced laying off, not furloughing, 28,000 workers due tp the pandemic causing them to operate at limited park capacity.

This is a major problem for Orlando where they are dealing with a huge homeless situation. Small offsite motels/hotels have stopped operating because tourists are not coming to the state.

This past weekend I went to the marina to gas up the boat & saw so many charter fishing boats still at their docks. Some haven't had a customer in 3 weeks.

We have big problems here & our Governor just opened up all the bars! In a couple of weeks, you'll hear about our spread raging.

Tomorrow October 1st American Airlines is laying off 18k employees.

Don't be surprised to hear other airlines making similar statements soon.

The Covid Task Force is just another failure of many for this administration.

At least I guess it's better than the daily press conferences when they just lied to us all.

Mitch McConnell, aka Grim Reaper/Moscow Mitch, and Lindsey Graham bunch are ramming through SCOTUS nomination in a rush. BUT these same dudes can NOT even pass a second economy stimulus bill for over five months to help millions of needed Americans deeply hurt by the Covid-19 pandemic.

rump needs this for himself too  but before the election and so then  even if he loses by 9 or 10 million votes  he will contest the election as entirely fraudulent and count on his 6-3 SCOTUS majority to award him the presidency .

Trump's covid diagnosis is a nightmare for his election campaign.  Trailing in polls, he has tried to shift public focus away from his failed handling of pandemic.  His own infection ensures he can't.  Future rallies and debates are in doubt.   This is an indictment of his reckless approach to the pandemic.  Despite the advice of public health experts, he holds massive rallies and mocks mask wearing.  He downplays virus threat, demand states reopen too quickly, punt problems with testing and medical supplies to states with less resources than federal government and politicizes public health institutions instead of letting science lead the response. 

Contrary to experts who advocate mask mandate, slow gradual reopening of economy, improvements in testing and contact tracing.  According to politico poll, majority of people say Trump fails to take proper precautions to protect himself from infection.  While Trump is getting the best healthcare in quarantine, he wants to eliminate insurance coverage for millions of Americans.

Still no deal despite democrat house of representatives passing $3 trillion aid bill in May and later a $2.2 trillion bill in September.  Blame ongoing impasse on senate and white house struggling to strike a deal.  Forgotten lesson from previous recession is that inadequate aid can delay recovery.  Pay now or pay later.  Good governments are supposed to increase spending in bad times.  Normally in many countries,  political leaders become more popular during a national crisis which brings people together against common enemy.  However under Trump administration, US is a divided mess.

The following are the latest covid numbers on universities across the United States.  There were 70,000 cases (  likely positive tests) of covid 19 so far this fall. Only 3 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. Can we please begin to start filling stadiums and concert halls? Not to mention restaurants at 100% capacity. Citizens know the small risk of going out into public. It is ok to stay home 24/7 while I  go out and not worry about contracting covid 19.

Quick story.  I go downtown and decide to check out our local library.  I enter the building and run into a young lady who immediately stops me and asks me to back up so I do not contaminate her. I ask why I can not go in.  She says because we are closed because of covid 19. Our library is the only library closed in our county. Just goofy in my opinion.

Anyway.  The only thing you have to fear is fear itself!
