It started last Friday with a tickle in her throat. Greer Gehler, an emergency room nurse in Anchorage, was on her way home from work.
“I chalked that up to sometimes, after wearing a respirator for 12 or 13 hours straight, you get kind of a sort of irritated cough from just breathing in all that moisture for so long,” Gehler said.
But, by the next day, a scratchy throat turned into a stuffy nose, a cough and swollen lymph nodes. She cried. She got a rapid COVD-19 test. The result came back as she suspected: positive.
She’s 20 weeks pregnant

On Wednesday morning, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation–Major Crimes Unit, was informed of an expected death of an inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Center.
They were notified that 48-year-old William Olsen JR had been transported to a local hospital after experiencing a medical emergency at the complex on November 20th. After receiving treatment, it was determined that Olsen would not survive the event.
On the evening of November 25th, Olsen was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
His next of kin were notified of his death, and the State Medical Examiner was also informed. Authorities say that no foul play is suspected.

Top trump-government health experts blanketed Sunday talk shows,
warning of an alarming post-Thanksgiving rise in Covid cases,
overwhelmed hospitals and exhausted health workers and pleaded
with a country beset by pandemic fatigue to mitigate the pain and death
for a few more months.
The US is now averaging 162,365 new coronavirus cases per day.
An average of 1,430 Americans are dying every day, according to
Johns Hopkins University data. A record setting 93,238 Covid-19
hospitalizations were reported on Sunday.

On Nov. 25, the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation announced that a resident of the region died due to complications of COVID-19.
The individual was in their 30s. This is the second person in the Y-K Delta under the age of 40.

Another resident of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation's long term care facility in Bethel tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 25. YKHC said that the person is currently asymptomatic and is self-isolating.
This is the third resident of the Yukon Kuskokwim Elders Home to contract the virus after two Elders tested positive on Nov. 8. Those two residents remained asymptomatic for the duration of their infection and have cleared their isolation requirements. An employee at the facility tested positive a day before the first two residents.
YKHC was testing its facility staff twice per week, and its residents once a week. Following the Nov. 25 infection, it will be testing everyone once every three days. There are 15 residents at the YK Elders Home in Bethel.

There's a "light at the end of the tunnel" .
Per the CDC in addition to age, there are a number of underlying medical conditions that would deem an adult of any age to be at an increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19. These include cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies, immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant, obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher but < 40 kg/m2), severe obesity (BMI = 40 kg/m2), pregnancy, sickle cell disease, smoking, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
"I think certainly the healthcare workers are going to be among those," said Dr. Fauci, when Todd said he presumed they'd be in pole position. "I don't know exactly what the precise final decision is going to be. Certainly healthcare workers will be up there. There may be others. I don't know. As you know, on Tuesday, the advisory committee on immunization practices, either Tuesday or Wednesday, sometime early next week, I'm going to be coming in, meeting with the CDC and making those kinds of decisions," he said. "But if you look at the number of healthcare workers, obviously you're going to have to do it in a graded way. I mean, we don't have enough vaccines right now in the first, you know, in the last week or two or three of December to be able to get everybody who needs to. And that's the reason why, what happens is that a certain amount of vaccine gets shipped locally to the States. And then the final decision of how to do that properly will be left up to the States with strong recommendations from the CDC.

"Certainly not definitive that people in nursing homes will likely be very high up there in that facility. You know, if you look at the number of people who are in what's called official nursing homes, there's about 1.5 million people. If you look at the people who are the staff, that staff, those official nursing homes, that's about another 1.5 million. So you probably have around 3 million people. I think you can get them protected reasonably soon, because obviously they're very vulnerable. And then you go down the list of people who are elderly with, or without underlying conditions. And you get the different priorities."

Pompeo and his wife are hosting multiple holiday parties (one on the 8th floor of the State Dept. with more than 900 invitees & food & drinks). At the same time, Pompeo’s subordinates are warned against meetings for “non-mission critical events.”
Sound like super spreader to me.
So the taxpayer is paying for the party & then paying for the care for those who get covid.

Doctor Fauci is frustrated with people who thinks coronavirus is no worse than the flu. More Americans have died from coronavirus than from influenza during the previous 5 flu seasons combined according to US center for disease control. John Hopkins university and World health organization also say the number of covid deaths far exceed the number of flu deaths despite stricter controls. In the US, flu doesn't even come close to over 250,000 deaths, 11 million infections or 70,000 hospitalizations in any bad season. Only an ignorant minority denies reality that global pandemic is a public health crisis.
