Matt is on the left but Hate, inc addresses an issue that is quite prevalent on both sides, specifically in how the media targets each respective side.
The media is more responsible then the guns themselves,c'mon?

Contrary to public belief, mental illness isn't a factor in most mass shootings. Out of 1315 mass murders, only 8% of mass shooters have mental illness in Columbia university study published in Psychological medicine. No one who commits violence is mentally well. But that doesn't mean the person is mentally ill or that treatment could prevent violence. According to Harvard review of psychiatry, researchers must abandon the assumption that mass violence is driven by mental illness in lone wolf individuals. Public has unrealistic expectations that health professionals can predict and prevent violence..
That’s not true. What is true is that 8% of mass shooters had a serious mental illness. Serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or psychotic mood disorders.
The percent of mass shooters with a mental illness would obviously be much higher.
From the study itself: “Depending on the definition of mental illness used, the proportion of mass shootings associated with it varies from 4.7% to 78% across studies.”
“The relationship between psychiatric symptoms and mass murder may be less associated with psychotic symptoms than with subacute, more common psychopathology, such as depres- sive symptoms, personality-based symptoms.”

In my earlier post #71,I was talking about detox in his post about it being the media, and perscription drugs fault, and he happens not to mention guns being any part of the problem.I thought you were kinda agreeing with him, when you just mentioned that you thought the media does play a large part in these shootings.

We need guns to protect our freedom, our property, our lives and the lives of our loved ones and also for hunting.
Blaming guns is the same as blaming knives or cars.
There are 440,000,000 million guns in the US. Do you want the government to go around and take them by force? You’re not offering any logical solutions, you’re just yelling at the sky.
Our media should stop making the shooters famous. Our doctors should stop overprescribing drugs to kids. We should do more as a country to focus on the mental health of everyone, especially kids.

Making everyone stay inside and closing beaches, parks, basketball courts, schools, sporting events, entertainment, drug treatment centers, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and not be allowed to see family and loved ones for 2 years obviously wasn’t the best for our mental health as a country.
Trump and DeSantis warned about it.
Democrats didn’t care.
Now the results are starting to come in.

trump is the 1 who originally shut down the country.
Please no disinformation in this thread. Let’s keep it to the facts. I’m sorry that you were on the wrong side of history but if people like you can learn from your mistakes everyone will benefit in the long run and our country will prosper.

What was the reasoning for the Las Vegas shooter then, way before corona?Media or prescription drugs,or him having all the guns he was able to use.Umm,I'll say guns were the main reason he was able to kill so many, your gonna go media or prescription drugs, since you can't use the corona virus for this one?

You've got a long hill to climb. Good luck partner. Try to look at the bigger picture (I think they call that looking outside of the box) and not at what's forced at you. It'll go along ways in your thinking.
Also, look up how to use your and you're. It'll go along way in forums and people might take you more seriously.

Surprising. I would have guessed this stat to be at least three times that figure.

@DrStrangelove I prize freedom over security and am willing to take my chances in a free country. You on the other hand would use censorship and gun confiscation, isn't that true and it would not stop psychotics from doing these acts?
19 kids went to school yesterday morning and didn't come home. Where were their freedoms? Do they not count with you?

Investigators believe Las Vegas gunman had severe undiagnosed mental illness.
Mental illness has always been here my friend. The response to Covid will just make everything that much worse.
The results are coming in and it looks as if Trump and DeSantis were right.

These are important issues but pretty sure other countries face similar challenges with mental health and prescription drugs and do not suffer from mass shootings on a daily basis like the U.S. Blaming these occurrences on anything other than the ease of getting military grade weapons is side stepping the real issue IMO.
Gun reform is needed immediately. However, mental health services need to be enhanced and provided as well.

Every action the killer took, from buying the guns right up until he pulled the trigger, was completely legal. Existing laws do nothing to prevent these tragedies, whether they are mentally ill or just pissed off at the world. The only way to prevent this from happening again are new laws specifically aimed at gun ownership.

1. Not many other countries have the mental health problems we are seeing today in the US.
2. No other country is drugging their kids like the US. I think we’re 300% higher than 2nd place.
3. Military grade? What are you talking about? Full auto fire is banned. How are they easy to get?

If he had severe mental illness, why was he able to have all those fire arms?If the vegas shooter did have a mental illness, with no fire arms, how many does he kill?
