Both issues need serious addressing, but gun law reform is definitely the most immediate.

And I also find it narrow minded to blame lax gun laws for suicidal mass killings. It no doubt did make it easier. Just as many guns per person now as there were in the 70's. School shootings were never on my mind as a young student in the 70's, why now? We can limit magazines and ban assault rifles and killings will still continue. So why are we not looking at the entire picture? Nothing to gain politically, that's why. And I don't care about bans, never will own an assault rifle myself.

This kid, to the best of my knowledge, had a history of disfunction in society and family. His social media interactions were big RED FLAGS. Where was Homeland Security, chasing down climate change disinformation??? He was given the nickname "School Shooter" on YUBO!!! Could the arrow be pointing any stronger???  NOBODY ALERTED ANYONE, NO DOCUMENTED MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM RIGHT THERE. This seems to be a talking point for gun supporting conservative Republicans, which frustrates the masses. Why is the assumption that banning assault rifles and limiting magazines will achieve very little or nothing? How do we know this since it has not been attempted in this country? There are cases in other countries, which such a strategy has been effective in reducing gun violence and mass shootings. Why would it be any different in the U.S.? Shouldn't elected officials be trying any option that could work? Why just brush any of the alternatives aside?

I'm not against the idea of making it unlawful to posses large capacity mags and assault rifles, but so much more at play here to prevent these types of carnage. That is my stand on this issue.
