Other countries have mental illness too but not as much mass shootings as in the US. Yet politicians keep blaming mental illness for mass shootings. But doctors say they are wrong. American medical association, American academy of pediatrics and American psychological association all advocate for focus on gun control instead of mental illness.

Nobody has ever said other countries don’t have mental illness. They say the US has more mental illness.
Of course medical academy’s and associations don’t want to accept any responsibility.

Among adults in high-income countries, those in the US were most likely to have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions by a doctor. In 2016, nearly one-quarter (23%) of US adults reported a mental health diagnosis, compared to fewer than 10% of adults in France, the Netherlands, and Germany.
The United States has some of the worst mental health–related outcomes, including the highest suicide rate and drug-related death rate.

Are suicides and drug related deaths also because of gun laws? Nearly 850,000 from 1999 through 2019 and the numbers are skyrocketing even higher recently.

So now it's the media, prescription drugs, mental illness, and history of family mental illness's.But it's definitely not all the guns he accumulated in his room, that had a hand in killing all those people.Gee I wonder what he had for breakfast that day,I'm sure you could spin it,that has something to do with it to.

Yes, it could not possibly be guns or easy access to guns for these unstable people. Not at all.
The defense for access to rifles is alarming by Republicans. It truly is.

If he had severe mental illness, why was he able to have all those fire arms?
If the vegas shooter did have a mental illness, with no fire arms, how many does he kill?
Valid point. Remove easy and affordable access to deadly weapons and anyone here would have a greater chance of winning the PowerBall Jackpot than a mentally ill person waltzing into a school and murdering 19 little kids with his bare hands or even a knife.
Making owning a gun, ANY GUN, similar to the regulations like owning a car but VERY expensive, is a valid measure to *SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE* (though never completely eliminate) mass tragedies against innocent people such as this one and Buffalo, etc.
Yet it still keeps the second amendment fully intact!

Actual mentally ill people -- sociopathy is NOT a mental illness -- are 10 or more times likely to harm or kill themselves than to physically harm others. A sociopath CANNOT be cured by any drug or therapy. And most don't realize they even have a problem.

Thankfully my family and loved ones were no where near that tops the day of the shooting.. My heart is broken for the families of the deceased ..Buffalo is a very small city where everyone seems to know everyone ....The retired police officer who was shot used to come to my HS basketball games as his brother was our security guard....He was a real hero taking on a monster in tactical gear knowing his own desth was seconds away ...Saved a ton of lives , as did an employee who safely baracaded 20 surviors in the back of the spare
..All of the victims are being laid to rest this week and next , their stories bring tears to my eyes ...One of the men was at the store buying his 3 yr old son a birthday cake he ordered ..Most of the victims were older ( 55-75) ..
Me personally I'm still in shock, have some family and friends that live in that neighborhood who shop at tops regularly ( its the only supermarket in the Jefferson Avenue area ) ... That supermarket is vital to the community there for healthy affordable meals and employment...
The outpouring of support from people all over the world for the neighborhood has been amazing .....
Went to 3 vigils down there that were absolutely beautiful with people of all races and ages holding hands and signing together, throwing the football around, playing basketball with the kids ...People have flooded the.neiborhood with home made food and donations ......
I get sick to my stomach a few times each day
BEST OF HEALTH, HAPPINESS,WEALTH, BLESSINGS and LUCK TO ALL !!

@DeezyAZ81 I think Lancer is Lancer. I don't think he is an SAF but who knows. I feel I've gotten to know him.enough to owe him the benefit of the doubt.
Hmmmm.....except that what we DO KNOW is that just after he was boxed the first time (4 times so far since April 7 when he first appeared on this forum) he then immediately switched to posting here with an alias, JCtime27, until our mods BANNED that alias. FACT!

White 'replacement theory' fuels racist attacks ASSOCIATED PRESS - WHO'S TALKING UP THIS THEORY? A study of five years' worth of Carlson's show by The New York Times found 400 instances where he talked about Democratic politicians and others seeking to force demographic change through immigration. Fox News defended the host, pointing to repeated statements that Carlson has made denouncing political violence of all kinds.
The attention paid by many Republican politicians to what they see as a leaky southern border along the United States has been interpreted, at least by some, as a nod to the concern of white people who worry about being “replaced.”

If any of you produced legitimate voter fraud proving the election was stolen, I would most definitely look at it as most Americans would do.
The fact that you can't but persist in pushing the BIG LIE proves you are part of the problem in America.
I as well would judge harshly those engaged in *PROVEN* election fraud that would overturn the results. There's no room in our Democracy for that! But as we have witnessed, repeatedly - aside from the few documented cases of republicans committing the voter fraud of voting twice (let alone trump actually telling his culot to do it, which is a CRIME!) every attempt to put forth so called "evidence" of MASSIVE election fraud has been debunked into total failure, including the much vaunted "Cyber Ninjas fraudit" in Arizona - which admitted there was no fraud and indeed they found that Biden actually won Maricopa county by even MORE VOTES!!

They say the US has more mental illness. Actual mentally ill people -- sociopathy is NOT a mental illness -- are 10 or more times likely to harm or kill themselves than to physically harm others.
According to National institute of mental health, most people with mental illness are non-violent. Only 4% of violent acts can be attributed to mental illness. In fact, they are 10 times more likely to be victims of violent crime than the general population. So contrary to movies, mentally illness isn't a factor in most mass shootings.

Most of the perpetrators have never been diagnosed with mental illness. They have never seen a mental health professional. If you want to believe perfectly sane and healthy people are picking up guns and shooting up schools, and that guns are the sole issue because these are just normal people with access to guns, go right ahead. We both know it's bullshit. Do you think this poor Mexican kid, who had been bullied his entire life, had access to comprehensive mental healthcare??
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Australia’s last mass shooting was in 1996 when Martin Bryant killed 35 people. Quickly after that, the Prime Minister (John Howard) put in place strict gun control and so many guns were turned in. To this day, it’s tough to get a gun licence legally in Australia. Obviously we have a much smaller population (27,000,000) and yes we do have guns still in our population but there appears to be a much deeper rooted problem in the US compared to other countries.

National council of behavioral health say that if all mentally ill people are locked up, 96% of all violent crimes would still occur because they are caused by other factors. For examples, grievances, racism, substance abuse and history of trauma or violence. Simply blaming the mentally ill ignores the bigger threat from larger sane population. To prevent violence, experts recommend focus on behavior instead of diagnosis. This is likely to be more effective than targeting mentally illness which is a poor predictor of violence.
