The so-called confirmation clause does not discuss majority or minority party. In 2016, Garland was never even brought to a full vote (because he would have been confirmed).
The reasoning by Republicans on the committee was that the election was so close that the people should decide. No matter what you say, the same reasoning applies here. I don't care if you are hypocrites and clearly your families don't either.

I don't know why it's so hard for Trump to wait until after the election to nominate a justice. Per some members in this forum, he's is suppose to win in a landslide so a few months is not going kill anyone. That's just simply the right thing to do. The distraction to fill this seat before the election could thrust the country into full blown chaos. It's not worth the political headache to rush this.
That's Uncle George..if he had won the Presidency ...there would not have been a Peace Corp..and the virginity of all those young girls would have been saved..

Some have questioned the time frame between now and election day Nov.3rd..( 46 days) is that enough time to nominate and confirm a Supreme Court Justice nominee?
Since 1900 43 Justices were confirmed in under 46 days....Ruth Bader Ginsburg was confirmed in 42 days..
Some of the Justices were confirmed within 14 days.....Hugo Black in 5 days..
Harold H Burton 1 day...
4 Justices were confirmed the same day they were nominated.
There is plenty of time to nominate and confirm the next Supreme Court Justice before the election ...

got me what?? I have said it's power play, and i expect GOP will jam through if McConnell has enough votes. Multiple of GOP sentors don't care about hypocrisy from 2016 nomination of Garland to SCOTUS, however the pass of ACA did not involve hypocrisy.
The list of Republicans endorsing the opponent is completely unprecedented in modern times.
No modern president has been opposed this much by his own party. Incredible.
