However there is a big difference between 2016 Supreme Court Justice scenario and this one in 2020.... Like Sundance stated,,in 2016 we had a divided Government ...the president was not of the same party as the Majority controlled Senate ...This does not fit in 2020..where the same party controls the White House and the Senate...
The voters made their choice in 2016 on who should determine the subsequent SC Justices..and they did this by electing Donald Trump to the White House and a Republican majority to the Senate.... As voters knew Donald Trumps list of prospective nominees before the 2016 election..so, there can be no debate over judicial philosophy.

Obama's decision might have been due to that, maybe he felt it was important to let things settle out before making the choice.
