Court leaves Trump gag order in hush money case in effect

New York’s highest court has declined to hear Donald Trump’s appeal on the gag order in his hush money case, according to a decision list posted Tuesday.

The gag order, issued by Judge Juan Merchan in the criminal case against Trump, remains in effect.

Separately, Trump has asked Merchan to terminate the gag order ahead of his sentencing scheduled for July 11.
The disgraced former president was convicted by a jury approved by his own attorneys of 34 counts of business fraud relating to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

REPUBLICAN  former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, endorses Biden! 

WASHINGTON — Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, the Illinois Republican who forcefully repudiated then-President Donald Trump after he incited the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, endorsed the #14 ranked President, Joe Biden on Wednesday, blasting the GOP's convicted felon nominee as a “direct threat to every fundamental American value.”

Praise be!!  

Kinzinger says Trump doesn't care about the U.S. He only cares about himself and would hurt anyone or anything in pursuit of power.  Biden praises Kinzinger. This is what putting country before party looks like.

Just heard from the CNBC news sources, the decisions on Trump's presidential immunity could be released within hours. While Bloomberg reports a possible Monday release. Stay tune, Fubah.

Thanks for the heads-up .....I had not been following this since last night....

Checking the  various non-MAGA/CONVICTED FELON-supporting news sources now....

Conservative attorney George Conway has believed Trump will lose big in this case, I am not sure it will be under 6-3 conservative Justices dominant court. We shall see soon.

So then your guessing maybe 6 - 3 majority AGAINST trump's coveted decree of immunity?

Indicators now seem  the decision is most likely coming Monday morning.

Not sure about the majority decision coming Monday, but I would suspect that certain part of presidential immunity will grant to Donald Trump. In the case of a total immunity in 6-3 majority decision grant to Trump? It should motivate huge Democrats base turn out in the November ballots, I guess.

And I would also cast doubt that majority of independent voters will agree with the total immunity ruling by the high court.

SCOTUS rules on limited immunity

In his majority opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts said that presidents do need immunity for their official acts.

“We conclude that under our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of presidential power requires that a former president have some immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts during his tenure in office,” Roberts wrote. “At least with respect to the president’s exercise of his core constitutional powers, this immunity must be absolute.”

But, the chief added,  not everything is official.

“The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and not everything the President does is official. The President is not above the law,” Roberts wrote.

“But Congress may not criminalize the President’s conduct in carrying out the responsibilities of the Executive Branch under the Constitution.”

Now the sentencing of the CONVICTED FELON is going to be delayed until September

As long as it actually happens in September and is a significant sentence - 2 big Q's - then this is actually positive news for Dems, as the jury verdict and sentencing of yet another  CONVICTED REPUBLICAN FELON will occur just weeks before the election - and fresh in the minds of undecided voters!

yesterday was supposed to b sentencing day for the convicted criminal the magas follow like little ducklings

but i agree its worse for them that it will b  just weeks before voting !

Trump was scheduled to be sentenced on July 11 originally,

but Judge Juan Merchan said the former president will now be sentenced on September 18.....only 48 days before the election!

At Trumps coronation shameless Republicans in Milwaukee for four long days and nights and nobody uttered the words that we have heard for eight years: ...conviction for altering business records to protect himself from scandalous affair with a showgirl, ...hiding away government top secret papers at Mar a Lago, ...attempting to convince Georgia's official to find 11,701 votes that would have made him the winner in Georgia, ...attempting to overthrow our lawfully elected President by replacing lawful electors with his handpicked electors on 1/6, ...Proud Boys solicited to come to Washington on 1/6 to demonstrate against the government saying, "It will be wild." This is the message to Independent and never Trumpers! For the next 100 days, He did it he owns it!

Gut feel tells me it will amount to nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Although if true, it's just another case of the wealthy and well to do receiving a different and far more lenient standard of justice than the average man or woman.

Only a moron doesn't understand that any average guy convicted on 34 felony counts would CERTAINLY receive significant prison time.

if chump gets the same measure of justice with sentencing that any other guy would  then odds on chump winning plunge

but if the judge decides to go political and be very easy on the wealthy fatbastard where he would not do so for any normal guy   then fatbastard is still a convicted criminal but wins the presidency

But I agree  that the proper or improper sentencing of a CONVICTED FELON is very likely going to have a significant impact on the election, pretty much along the lines you stated.
