    @wallstreetcappers

     Wall, seriously, I could say the same about you... Namely, "you're smarter than this."  For you not to see the reality around you speaks volumes about your emotional hatred of Trump.  It clouds very view.

    Let's start with the Wall & our Southern Border: For you to suggest that the Border isn't an open-door policy now is disingenuous.  It is completely out of control, and Trump had a handle on the border.  The wall would have been a great accomplishment to better control who comes in to our country.  "WE the People" should decide who comes into our country.  And why do you say a wall wouldn't work.  Worked in tandem with technology (i.e. drones & infrared scanning to detect tunnels), it can be done.  Stop being so negative, and think "outside the box" ...

    Also, every other country believes in protecting their border, but they don't need to build a wall because they are not America.  Everyone wants to come here for Opportunity and a better life.  Why don't you, and the Democrat party in general, want to control who comes into our country ?

    Energy Independence: How else do I say this... U.S. maximum oil production occurred during the Trump Administration, and has "declined" since...  Read that again.  Why is that, Wall ?  Could it be onerous regulations? How about that on day 1 of Biden's presidency, he struck down XL pipeline.  That set the tone for what has come since... Ask yourself, if you're an oil/gas CEO, why would you expand operations when it becomes unnecessarily more expensive, and you have a bullseye on your back ? It is pathetic that in recent months Biden has now asked, even pressured, oil companies to pump more.  F' him.  Change policy if you're serious.  He is screwing w/ oil companies and the American Public who is paying unnecessarily more at the pump.  We are paying more due to Biden !!  And don't give me this Ukraine crap.  The price hikes occurred in the first 12 months of his presidency... before Ukraine !!

     Final point on Energy.  ZIRP sure played a big part in "starting" the shale revolution, but that was 10+ years ago.  It was company "shareholders" that in the last few years finally put the pressure on companies to stop reinvesting their capital in more oil fields, particularly the shale producers.  (Keep in mind this started to occur before inflation reared its ugly head).  In many ways, oil companies became of victim of their own success w/ an oversupply on the market.  And investors said 'Enuff!  That is now reversing, and Biden is accelerating this transition further to cut back on supply.   You know that.. I know that.  How many conversations have we had on oil in the Investment forum on this ?  More money is now flowing to shareholders, and that financial discipline is serving (us) investors well... and to Biden's shagrin..

    @wallstreetcappers

     Continued...

    Inflation: For you to suggest that inflation was caused by a "COVID kink in the supply chain" is an absolute joke.  We're done with the effect of supply-chain disruptions due to COVID, and have been for some time.  So that can't be "it."

    Wall, anybody that's been paying attention knows that the true driver of inflation was/is "TOO MUCH FEDERAL SPENDING."  How many trillions were spent in a very short period of time, mostly under Biden !!? Though that money was "passed" 1+ year ago, it is still finding its way into the economy today.  "That" is the problem when you have too much $$ chasing too few goods in the economy.  It is a DEMAND driven problem, and any shortcoming on the supply side has to do with not enough U.S. workers in the economy, but that is conversation for another day....

    Democrats need to flush down the drain their silly notion of "Modern Monetary Theory."  Too much Federal Spending has always been a problem in this country, but what's different this time is that the economy has "not" been able to absorb the unprecedented amounts of $$ flowing through it the last few years.  You want to solve inflation ? Claw back a lot of this wasteful $$pending.  The FED is doing it the hard way by manipulating interest rates..

    Final point.  I don't need media talking points to tell me how to think...  And I find it hard to believe I sound like somebody who does.. Lol.

    Didn't the walls work for the Chinese to keep the Mongols outan_popcorn

    I suppose the Chinese, especially the Ming Dynasty, were dumb to ever think of a wall being built would ever protect them from a particular foreign obstacle that would have essentially destroyed them...the Mongols were the most vigilant and destructive force of their time...it is noted by many historians that without the walls being built that China would be very different today had the walls not been built....the Mongols would have forever changed history and the Ming Dynasty would not have been restored... Don't knock a wall until you try it...quite honestly it's the best idea anyone has come up with since sliced bread...most importantly it is as stride towards trying to resolve a huge USA problem, that is if you believe there is a problem...and there is...an_horse

    It's not a half bad idea because most importantly it is a start to try and show the American people that we will keep our citizens safe...it's a wall...it's not like he was asking for it to electrocute people to death as they crossed...quite frankly being against it could deem you as unamerican and not caring if the people of this nation are killed as a result of it...you don't like the wall idea fine, but come up with something to stop the bleeding or don't get mad if your friendly foreign neighbor takes the last bandaid from the first aid kit...an_police

Genghis and his military prowess was no joke...that's a fact jackan_light

    @ABooksNightmare

     Most of the Republicans have left this forum because they are beat up & embarrassed for trying to support a lying POS for the last 6 years.

    And now when asked what legislation the GOP controlled House has planned to solve the country's issues, we get nothing but crickets.

    Are you watching what is taking place in Tennessee today?

     The wall would take trillions to build and more to monitor, it has always been a pipe dream that cannot and will not materialize and would not make an impact because the other side has more motivation to defeat it than we do to monitor it. The cost is absurd, the monitoring impossible and the results would not ever be worth it.

    Energy independence faltered because the fracking industry went bust...sheesh were you awake during the last two years of Trump's term? Multiple fracking majors went under, the little fracker who was using ZIRP debt to finance the costs for fracking, when that evaporated so did production. Rates are too high now for marginal fracking to make financial sense. The reason why fracking went bust was when oil went to zero...that means all those frackers who needed oil to be at 50 to make it work were wrecked and many like Chesapeak had massively overleveraged and banks called those loans and it was DONE. It had nothing to do with Trump, zero nothing nada. The fracking enterprise took ten years to develop not one, as I mentioned if anyone deserves credit it is Obama, but really it was not political it was completely financial. Regulation did not cause oil to go to zero, for Chesapeak to go under for fracking to be financially negative. What were you doing when oil went to zero were you paying attention?

     Concerning inflation, show me with DATA to support your claim that DEMAND created this inflation...inflation is either more demand than supply OR not enough supply for a static demand. The reason why inflation has not crashed is because supply chain is not fixed, it is also why when during Covid we did not feel IMMEDIATE inflation..that is because the queue of supply takes months to years to fix, it took over a year to drain the supply that corps had on hand and it will take just as long to fix supply chain and to fill the supply channel in the economy.

    If you can show me actual demand data to support this IMMEDIATE inflation I would be interested in real unbiased data. My contention is demand has not ramped in the last year to support the largest and fastest spike we have seen in 40 years.

    Remember that inflation is one or the other, it is excess demand to static supply OR static demand to insufficient supply, nothing else...its that simple.

    Shouldn't matter what cost if it is a step in trying to resolve a problem...that is if you think there is a problem....many don't view the border as a problem but that's because they probably live in Minnesota or Iowa but ask those people that live along the border if they view the border as a problem and I'll bet you get a different response....It's a cost for the greater good of the American people...It's a step in trying instead of sitting back and doing nothing...you can put walls around your house to protect it but god forbid try and do something along the border where millions are sneaking in....

    Just like with the school shootings....build walls to protect the kids...make it a uniform policy to secure the kids in what should be a safe place...stop spending abroad and use it to keep our own people safe...we are so far behind the times and we continue to do nothing...for once do something....show you care....that's the message that it sends...and we have the money so let's not get off topic about that...if there is anything the pandemic taught people is that the government has money...not literally but it can be printed...I see no reason why a wall would be any different...you want to create jobs after a piss poor economic failure that is the pandemic then build the wall not just on the border but let's also start with our school system that is neglected...or just sit back and watch the news flash of the same thing over and over again...someone needs to step up...

    Wallstreetcapper is right.  Myth is that US south border is open.  Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden administrationsl maintained thousands of patrol officers and extensive barriers.  Report by US customs and border protection confirms that walls didn't prevent thousands of illegal crossings from 2019 to 2021.  Most illegal migrants legally enter the US but overstay their allowed time.  Great wall of China didn't stop conquests by mongols and manchus during Yuan and Qing dynasties.

    Biden administration hasn't slowed energy production.  Energy information administration estimates US oil production is expected to set a new record in 2023 and continue in 2024.

    Biden administration hasn't slowed energy production.  Energy information administration estimates US oil production is expected to set a new record in 2023 and continue in 2024.

    But the wall did work...nothing is perfect but imagine if China had the same attitude back then as others do now here in America...imagine how different China would be...it stopped some of the attacks but the truth is that it was a deterrent...you are looking to deter those that figure it's easy to cross a river or an open area to come here illegally....you want to deter them from that notion...will some still get in, sure, but not the masses that are pouring here now...that is the deterrent...if it's a step in trying to make  a difference then do it...is everyone against putting walls around our schools to protect kids toan_popcorn

    Do nothing because you don't care or do or try something because you do care....again, let's here from people who are impacted by an open border...I guess they should all just move right....if you don't like it move away from the border...that solves it...here's your voucher...confused
