Personally, I don't trust my money in a "pool" for management. I'd rather do my own research instead of letting a money manager throw darts at a board or buy what's best for their firms best interest.
As I've aged wiser over the years I've learned this 30's was all 401k index funds. Now it's 50/50 with the self directed brokerage. One is down roughly 10% and the other only 1%. Cash is king and I'm waiting patiently.

When you see CEOs of major companies dumping shares, Buffet hoarding cash, you know they are waiting for a dip. It's coming faster than I had thought (I assumed a slow downturn in 2025 and into 2026 before revising back up mid to late 26). I would have to agree with holding cash for some more dips. The ones that got rewarded in 09'-12' were the ones that held cash and bought the dip. IMO there will be a point when rates and prices are low. Patience will be key. Don't want to buy to early and be part of the exit liquidity
@Raiders22
Time in the market is great, but also timing the market can be much more beneficial. Believing stocks only going up is asinine and same with people complaining about a downturn. Stock market is not (IMO) built on supply and demand.

It is not that they only go up. No one can really time the market beneficially. You will always come out ahead if you just stay in. You will also come out even further ahead if you add more and continue DCA in when it is down. It is a huge difference. This is mainly because just a few days each year make up the majority of the profits. These are the days you cannot afford to miss out on if you are trying to time the market. Not to mention any dividends and reinvesting you might miss out on or any tax hits you will have to take. The bottom line is that the market has always bounced back and the longterm trend is always up. It is not about timing the market but time in the market.

I'm stating where it was when he took over & where it is now. In less than 3 months, his actions have cost the DOW close to 5,000 points & many many Americans have lost a lot of money.
I realize people like you & I can pretty much do whatever we want & go wherever we choose. But we are much more fortunate than most.
This guy is incompetent & dangerous.
BTW...as a supposed Independent, you sure spend a shitload of time trying justify his performance.

You sound angry & frustrated......understandable. The guy you supported did nothing but hurt the country after all the bullshit he claimed.......he was epitome of incompetent & dangerous. Why do you think his own handlers kicked him to the curb?

Look Mugg, the guy was sick & Democrats fucked up by denying it for too long. I get it.
But this King of Debt is a disaster. Give this a thought...
In history, if you look at the 10 largest single-day point drops in the history of the Dow, of the 10 worst point drops ever, the Lyin King was the president for nine of those 10 days.
You know the rollercoaster ride is not the stability we all want in the market.
Give it up. He's not good for the country

You know about 30 years ago Pelosi addressed Congress & spoke about our unbalanced trade issues..........& about 20 years ago, Schumer did the same to the Senate. Later on, even Owebama spoke to it. Biden was around for all of that & never said a word.
DO YOU HONESTLY THINK HARRIS WOULD'VE DONE A FUCKING THING ABOUT IT?
No......but Trump has talked about it, campaigned on it, got elected for it, & is now doing it. Call him all the names you want. He could turn out to be the game-changer we needed.

Yup back there they should have done something about it. In fact they should have never let reagan to allow the companies to do this shit. Should have been stopped back then. 20 and 30 years ago, forgot about correcting reagans blunder, it was way to late America become addicted to cheap stuff and now trumpy trying to do it now, when all of us consumers are really addicted to cheap stuff and the world is basically all connected, but hey keep living in the 60's, 70's and 80's like trumpy. Hes not gonna change anything and his actions have already destroyed long time alliances due to his stupidity. Other nations arent gonna trust us anymore. Also you might want to look back at what tariffs did to us during the depression. A fool that doesnt learn from their mistakes is doomed to repeat the same mistakes, exactly what dementia don is doing now. Just listen to trumpy talk, i mean really listen. The guy might have a 30-40 word vocabulary and he repeats the same words over and over again. Its incredible in the last 3 elections we have put senile people into office that really belong playing cards at the senior citizen center, not running America.
We will see if trumpys stock market manipulation saves us from a recession, which the best economists not named peter narravo or ron varra are saying its still gonna happen. People are even talking that trumpy is just gonna keep playing this tyariff shit every 90 days in order to manipulate the markets to fatten his pals up.

Yea sure, I agree Dipshit Donnie could be a game changer but not in the way we all expect.
He's a moron getting advice from morons that will end up hurting all the morons who voted for him.

You're too easy on these looneys. Nations never have trusted us, they're stuck with us. The last 12 years are good examples. We go from Obama to Trump, then Biden, and back to Trump. Wild policy swings every 4 years.
In this "what's in it for me today society" it's nice to see some long term goals.
So keep squealing 20+ posts a day, you got 45 more months.

I saw your crack about women in high heels & makeup. I've never seen a grown ass man so terrified of powerful women.
Don't you realize your boy wears lifts in his shoes & wears more makeup than anyone in his administration?

They're on tilt. Look at all the dolts they have screaming at the sky. Trump sent out a tweet suggesting now was a good time to buy the market......& some lib morons want him investigated for insider trading.
No need to rub it in further.

Gentleman and I use that word hesitantly, I am not frustrated but bewildered.
I read "but he told us he was going to do this. Tariffs, mass deportations, government reductions etc." However, it's been a disaster.
You are both smart guys & I think you are intimidated by his actions & is words. You know destroying what we have in place in such a haphazard way is not the answer. But yet you still support every ridiculous decision he's made & allowed others to make.
It's time to take off the rose colored glasses & begin to realize the country is in serious trouble. He doesn't care about you or the country & he never has.
I'm up early this Saturday morning to go fishing & spend the afternoon playing the ponies & watching the Masters. Give some consideration to what I have posted. Our country needs you.
