To those making insults as the sole purpose of a reply, that is not going to be allowed and if the only purpose of a message is a member to member put down then erase the message before clicking the submit button.
It is curious to me having lived through decades of abuses towards equity and inclusion that some here seem to brush it completely aside as if it is something wrong or abused. This country has centuries of abuses towards gender and racial differences and sometimes humans who have not been given a fair opportunity do not get that opportunity unless there is a directive and a legally forced initiative...and even then they still will not and do not.
The flaws and extremes that you guys complaining about the DEI are clamoring about are NOTHING compared to the centuries of abuses those non-white male folk have gone through and we could completely reverse the narrative and make all white males unable to make a living and be forced to servitude for decades and it would not make up for what this country has done.
To see the narrative of eliminating the DEI by Trump is disgraceful, there needs to be a balance and an adjustment but if anything we need MORE DEI not less, more inclusion and acceptance and opportunity not less.

I do not think he meant it as an insult. I think he was pointing out what it seemed as fairly obvious.
You can try it out for yourself. Just go type it in and see what you get.
I certainly do not think he meant it as an insult.

Why? At what risks? Why do you not simply support the best candidate for the position? Why not simply start at the ground level and educate or train more of whatever group that one perceives as 'under-represented' at the early school years. That is where the emphasis needs to be placed. Then the option is there for the candidates and they can decide whether they want this career or not.
Now, the career is, more or less, pushed onto them and makes them feel as though they want it and are truly fit for it -- when neither are necessarily true.
Why does it HAVE to be DEI, when it has been proven to not work (or at least the negative unintended consequences have been bad, thus far). If that was NOT the case, so many companies would not be bailing on it.

@Raiders22
It is not the first time those in your corner have made insults at another who has a difference of opinion.
Keep the content to the topic and avoid taking shots at members, seems like a repeating narrative that is obviously NOT understood or followed here.
Member to member...so you that might think of spinning, lets keep to the direct issue.

I agree there should be no personal insults.
I just did not think he intended it that way.
Maybe, tangentially it looked that way, I guess. But that was a short leash for a non-direct personal insult.

It also seems slightly duplicitous when someone does not give credit to a quote or summarization that they post.
I see how it can happen from time to time. But, if it is often, it is not a good look.
But, I get what you are saying.

Your reply is using flawed logic, the most qualified is not really the only objective because how did one person get qualified versus another? The issue of DEI is to give opportunity and balance to a flawed and warped society. The extremes you guys use as if it is the sole outcome is humorous at best and disgraceful at worst.
The DEI needing to be in existence is the reality of the foundation society has been built on by pushing down the true majority to enrich and benefit the true minority. If people whoa are deserving do not get the opportunity or the chance to BE the most qualified then how can things ever be balanced?
I dont fault the DEI at all because those who are complaining about it in general and most loudly are those who benefitted from the centuries of abuses that made this a reality.
Most qualified as a term is a sloppy lazy way to minimize one group and elevate another, sometimes most qualified does not mean best suited or even most deserving. The topic is much more complex than generalizing it in such a low level way. Society has centuries of work to give opportunity to all humans and then see who is most qualified and versus the centuries of entitlement and enrichment that have harmed millions who are not of the male white group especially in the US.
It isnt really only about male white because every society every country every area of the world has inclusion and equity failures and abuses, the US is just anglo male dominated to this discussion.

Thanks but obviously you are either blind to the repeated instances or are biased to dismiss as you did in these replies. There was ZERO purpose for that comment, none at all it added nothing to discussion and had no reason to be made. It has gone on from your side for a very very very long time and this has been discussed and allowed it is not some unknown concept.
Not sure why you even needed to make the comment, you are an active participant here I have no idea how you could actually suggest it does not happen in ANY degree of instance.

Of course. it is -- in a lot of positions. Heart Surgeon, Pilot, QB, Financial Counselor, Brick Layer.
Why would you NOT want the MOST qualified?
They get it BEFORE the job. They get it though schooling and training. NOT after they are hired and ON the JOB TRAINING.
That is the tried-and-true logic that has withstood the test of time.

It may be. But it is frustrating when everyone can see what is done.
It is always obvious that the tangential ones from one side bother you and not the blatant ones form the other side.
But whatever, it is what it is.
I simply do not like insults or personal attacks from either side.
I just do not think that was a very good example of one that he did.
But cool.

The issue of DEI is to give opportunity and balance to a flawed and warped society.
There is opportunity -- go get the education, and experience. Then be good at the job at a lower level. Then come back and get hired on your merit.
It should not be 'forced' on an employer or government entity to do this educating and experience at their cost -- if they do NOT want to.

No, it is not.
It is the logical extremes for a reason.
If you are handing out to-go orders at a fast food place -- then it may be okay; but not at the extremes.

Eliminate DEI and hire the most qualified based on experience and NOT about the color of their skin or their gender. Gov't should never force a business to hire based on skin color that is the definition of racism. DEI is ass backwards. Skin color nor gender should have not play any role in applications for work or education. Selecting based on skin color and gender is racism at the core. To exclude ANYONE based on color or gender should NEVER be tolerated, period. End DEI.
When I was applying for college, I was told to select any other race than white to get moved to the top. That is wrong.
I recall a time when corporations were giving out 3k bonuses for anyone who recommend a certain color individual for a new job and 1.5k for another race. Anyone who recommended a white individual was given a 0 bonus. Racism at the core. All to meet a quota.

You ask your neighbor who built their deck and if they are happy and would they hire them again.
You do not ask what their sex, race, ethnicity is.
You simply want to know if they are the best qualified two build you a deck.

To see the narrative of eliminating the DEI by Trump
You have to bring Trump into any discussion. No need to do that. He may put a stop to it at the government level. But he has nothing to do with it at the company level.
The companies have already spoken and realized what a debacle it has been.
That is why they have shut down their whole DEI departments and moved away from it.

Eliminate DEI and hire the most qualified based on experience
Correct. It is the biggest corporate scam since the TQM and JIT movement.
People equate NON-DEI to Discrimination. That is simply untrue.
You saw this start years ago in grade-school, when they did 'social promoting'. Then in university different requirements were used fro entrance.
All this does is have 'unintended consequences' for those folks later in life, along with 'self-doubt'.

This just does not work because you are drawing a conclusion off the flaws of society. Those who you feel are most qualified OFTEN times have advantages that the majority does not. I cant explain it any easier than this. I strongly suggest that the most qualified as you term it are so because of advantages given to certain segments over decades and centuries of time. The truly most qualified cannot be known because society is built off pushing down and excluding the majority for the benefit of the minority. You cannot quantify that you know the most qualified truly are. The only way you could even remotely validate your theory is if every single person had the same exact opportunities and upbringings and THEN were sorted to be the "most qualified".
I would say that the most qualified in society means the most favored and advantaged. The DEI directive could take 100 years to truly be understood and quantified yet some of you want to bemoan this being in existence for a few years while the minority in the US, white men have been given advantage and unfair opportunity for centuries.
I am a white man btw as if that isnt blatantly obvious before.

I watched an Indian Senator from the reservation today named Elizabeth Warren representing Massachusetts. She was awful, despicable and dishonorable! Pocahontas is DEI as a Caucasian. You can not make this up on your best day! To think Elizabeth could have been President!
