There's no way the crime in lil Haiti is as bad as Haiti proper.

"When we use phrases like undocumented workers we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration which the American people overwhelmingly oppose. If you don’t think it’s illegal you’re not going to say it. I think it is illegal and wrong."

Judging by the FBI's actions since 2016 I would not make that statement. Rather, I would say if they are admitting this much it must be far worse.

Most drugs are imported by American citizens through ports of entry.  Most crimes are committed by Americans instead of migrants.  Under US law, being an illegal immigrant is not a crime but rather a civil violation.  Courts have ruled that immigration is not an invasion.  But high number from global displacement is more of a humanitarian crisis than a national security threat.

And saying more drugs are confiscated at ports of entry doesn't mean it is not streaming in elsewhere. Ports of entry is the easy/lazy way.

Props to Governor DeSantis for getting additional officers in place before people fleeing Haiti reach our shores. He's sending about 250 law enforcement officers from various state departments like Fish/Wildlife who are familiar with South Florida waters.

This will help supplement our Coast Guard who have been doing a fantastic job.

Good move Guv!

CBC news report that US state department warned Americans to leave Haiti last month. Now criminal gangs have closed airports and seaports to prevent people leaving.  But team of marines have evacuated staff from US embassy.  US is contributing to United nations multi-national force to help Haiti police end the violence.

Chinese migration to the US is nothing new.  Right wing media demonizes migrants and promotes racist conspiracy theories.  Whipping up hysteria over a flimsy migrant crime narrative.  Since 9/11, FBI considers domestic terrorism by Americans a far greater threat than foreign terrorism in the US.

There is a particular network that has -- some of the overseas facilitators of the smuggling network have -- ISIS ties that we're very concerned about, and we've been spending enormous amount of effort with our partners investigating," Wray said.

Overall, he said, threats from various groups have reached a "whole other level."

"And we know China's government is not our friend, so this dramatic upswing, I think it could definitely present a potential national security risk."
