@THEMUGG Is your solution to allow any wing nut to open a charter school because its cheaper and then let whatever happens run its course? I have no problem with the concept of improving things but that does not need to be imploding the entire structure because your right wing extremist want bibles and religion in schools. Must every solution be as extreme as the problems you feel exist? Where is common sense and a long term solution rather than a short term extremist reactionary overreach?
Public schools are absolutely failing. Liberals: "Hey, whoa. Why blow the whole thing up? Why mess with the status quo?"
Whether they have the right approach remains to be seen but at least conservatives acknowledge there is an issue.

Trump plan to eliminate education department probably won't improve education. Most educated countries tend to have support from all levels of government. But the least educated countries tend to be poor. In the US, most educated states tend to be democrat. For examples, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut. Whereas the least educated states tend to be republican. For examples, West Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas.

Did you read my comment or just hone in on the liberal versus conservative angle yet again?
The solution to make things better is not to swing in the opposite direction in the same level of extremity, what good does that do? Charter schools can be cheaper but they are not a solution to the problem for a multitude of reasons we have discussed here before.
Why does the reaction have to be so extreme and polarizing, is the intent to make things better or is it to overreact as a stupid retort?

We were told she was the gatekeeper? The speed bump? The watchdog? The "miracle worker? She was called the "Ice Maiden" but is nothing but a big puddle so far.
She was going to keep the Donald on his meds. Not allow Stephen Miller anywhere near the Donald. Everything was going to come through her first. Did she even know about the massive pardons or the government freeze or Muskrat running the show? It's hard for her to keep the Donald & Muskrat from talking to each other while laying bed in the middle of the night, right?
“My team and I will not tolerate backbiting, second-guessing inappropriately, or drama. These are counterproductive to the mission.” I think you missed the boat on that one Susie!
Does anyone respect her?

SO HOW ARE THINGS GOING? Not so good for these folks... Consumers going to purchase items shipped from China are discovering the first immediate impact of President Donald Trump's new tariffs: fees of "up to $50 or more" on top of their usual shipping costs, reported Wired. The key sticking point is that the policy change eliminates a longtime "de minimis" exemption from trade duties for parcels worth less than $800, suddenly causing people to owe fees they've never paid. Beginning Tuesday, "US shoppers have reported receiving notices from UPS and DHL stating they owed between $20 to over $50. Some small business owners, meanwhile, say the new fees are forcing them to temporarily halt sending orders to the US completely," reported Zeyi Yang. "US customers who placed orders on shopping websites like the popular Chinese fast-fashion platform Shein have been particularly impacted, even if they made their purchases long before the tariffs were announced. They are now forced to either pay the hefty fees — in some cases, more than the cost of the actual items — or have their packages sent back." Oftentimes, these fees outright hold up the packages from even being delivered. For example, according to the report, "Chardonnay Love, an artist from Pennsylvania, says she received a text message from DHL on Tuesday explaining she needed to pay $26.20 in import duties to get a Shein order that already cost her $267.14." Meanwhile, Leslie Brown, who owns a Canadian clothing reseller that does business through eBay and Poshmark, said “I am now stuck with $30,000 of items I can’t move across the border, the lifeblood of my business.” New tariffs taking effect this week were also to apply to Mexico and Canada; however, at the last minute, the leaders of both countries managed to negotiate a one-month delay with the Donald by agreeing to border security measures they were already doing anyway. The tariffs on China, however, are in full force, with significant impacts on trade. On Tuesday, the U.S. Postal Service suspended all shipments of parcels from China altogether, although this suspension was lifted on Wednesday morning. Can't be screwing around with small businesses. It's becoming a "who's on first" comedy except it's not funny.
The Donald has temporarily reinstated a tariff loophole that allows packages worth less than $800 to enter US duty free.
He rescinded his decision that lasted 2 days.
Geezzzz

Look in the mirror. You're arguably the most partisaned, combative poster on this site. And you call yourself a moderator. Yes, I read your post in it's entirety..a d I responded.

What part were you curious if I missed? The part about wingnuts, or the part about extremist? Republicans have pushed for charters for long before the current back and forth. Republicans have pushed for school choice? Why are liberals against it? What is the Democratic plan. More of the same? Definition of insanity vibes. Doing the same thing and expecting different outcomes.
Stupid retort? You revert to insults because you have nothing of validity to say on the subject. What about my post is stupid?

Their reactionary response is extremist, that is why I asked if you really were interested in making things better or retaliating?
I speak of charters because I am square in the middle of one of the largest charter states in the country...I know charters quite quite well and I know their flaws and their gaps and limits. Charters are not a solution that makes things better for a number of reasons.
The way to handle a swing to an extreme is not to swing to the opposite extreme, that accomplishes nothing. I am interested in making things better not swinging away from extremist cherry picking to validate a flawed narrative. Charters are a flawed mistake on a large scale and do not make things better for the students or the families of the students. This comes from experience and from exposure to the very institution you are suggesting.
And yes unless there is extreme oversight and extreme regulation and guidance, Charters are a horrid idea and yes wingnuts do run rampant in charters, it happens regularly down here and this snap your fingers retort to a problem you see is a myriad of problems in your so-called solution.

Stupid retort was not YOU silly, I said was the idea of a charter a solution or a stupid retort? Did YOU personally forward the idea of large scale charters as a solution? Of course not so how could you even suggest I am talking about YOU unless Trump named you charter doobie and you are giving him this awful advice.
I think Trump really cares zippo about making things better, Trump listens to extremists who HAVE a narrative and Trump is lacking depth and motivation so whomever he thinks is smart will feed him cruddy ideas and he will support those with doing absolutely ZERO due diligence.
Look no further than the absolutely atrocious suggestions he makes about inflation and grocery prices about Ukraine and Gaza, the guy offers up such garbage solutions to which he is never held accountable. The way he suggested that Palestine citizens should be put up in foreign countries and that the US should take over Gaza, renaming the Gulf of Mexico and taking over the canal, the list of obtuse idiocy goes on and on and on.
So you need to try HARDER to soil me, you got a cap gun response there which was a massive stretch even at the best of times, try again but onlly after you bring some content to your replies...this poor me stuff is a bit soft dont you think?

@soup-can Have you read the bible OT? Can you answer this? Do you have an understanding of history in the region or are you just supporting your partisan sources in the present?
I am not being partisan on this with Gaza. the place will take years maybe even a decade to make it livable again. Disease is already starting to set it, and I know you are a very well-read person so you know my point is valid that NOBODY can live there now. It's not a matter of herding cattle to Egypt or Jordan, or even Morrocco and Ireland are possible destinations. I do have an understanding of the region but by no means an expert, so how does Egypt not at least give safe passage to the women & children or as refugees? All those human shields and Sisi didn't even blink, his election is end of year. They have a bad reputation, and no landlord wants to rent to them.... from the PLO in Beirut and maybe going back all the way to the twelve sons of Ishmael. Who would you think the Palestinians derived from? The easy guess is Philistines(Ham) but could also descend from Kedar or Hadad. Your talking 4,000 years here, point is I wasn't trashing anyone just a short response about this maniac who wants to put up a four seasons on the sea and the people of Gaza voted 80% for Hamas rule. There is no two state solution, there are no rainbows in Gaza. now can we put this top bed without insults?

It was said this would put TEMU and Shein out of business, maybe even Alibaba too. There was a lot of negative press, He did the right thing with this one. those places are like cheap TJ Maxx stuff. These tariffs are negotiating start points but the one with China I think he is just pissing in their cereal, and it's been long overdue for that to happen

Where were the insults? Can you list where I personally insulted you? Is asking if you read the OT or know historical information an insult? Is asking if you are relying on present day partisan agendas an insult? Is suggesting that Israel was given land that the Palestinians feel like is theirs an insult? Is saying that Trump and Biden are both horrid for supporting Israel and allowing BIBI to kill hundreds of thousands of their enemies an insult?
I am likely as much or more Christian than anyone here and yet I am not blind to the atrocities Israel has done to anyone not supporting their partisan offensive approach. Gaza is not what the Palestinians deserve as their homeland, they deserve the same land Israel was given and it is true that both cannot exist in the same area given that both feel the area was given to them by their creator and prophets and BOTH groups have killed the other side for millions of people and thousands of years. I do not blindly side with Israel given that Palestine had zero representation and was forced into a third world cage known as Gaza.
