However wisdom may not be enough among the millions of "America ONLY foreign-policy-isolationists."  We shall see.   But personally I too want to prevent a much, MUCH broader and more deadly war with OUR boots on the ground in hand-to-hand combat.  Bullies are NOT stopped by "appeasing" them!  If anything, appeasing them (in any way) serves only to embolden them further....

Russia wants Ukraine and all provinces to keep to the terms they agreed to regarding conduct and respect for the larger union and that is the only reason why they are involved here IMO. If Ukraine were to stop with the NATO narrative and be respectful to the larger Russian federation I am sure this would not have even come to the surface. Russia does not want NATO in their direct backyard no more than the US did when we freaked out about Cuba. We should not be spending a dime on that situation because it was and is avoidable and unless Ukraine returns to their original framework with regards to Russia we should stop being involved. I know its a win-win for defense contractors at the expense of the US taxpayer and civilian lives lost but we should not be involved at all.

i bumped this because i would love to hear thirdperson’s thoughts and his rebuttal .

Sometimes inspiration , courage , and the luminous glow of what is truly honest and righteous strikes us , elevating our being into a higher level that we had previously never achieved ,

but the slow , monotonous , agonizing daily drip of reality and it’s harshness , where people evade and play pretend , dissuades us from stepping into this realm of progress ever again , let alone bolsters us into challenging ourselves even further .

while others fall into the crosshairs of the sniper rifle time and again for something as simple as what could be categorized as the rifleman did not like the rhythm or the cadence of his target’s “ breathing “

    that’s silly . And partisan . And biased .

Let’s set a higher standard in this forum . Let’s make EVERYONE accountable . But those tough decisions , and dealing with the inevitable pushback and backlash from those that are in opposition must come from The Top .

take the challenge . Life is short . Make something happen .

Why is it necessary for the same people on both sides here in this forum to take the majority of the conversation to the partisan stupid path when there could be great conversation about content and topics? He was not addressing me and his comment was partisan blaming which derails most everything. He isnt the only one, there are guilty parties on both sides that always go to the RIGHT or LEFT and it is a dead end dividing derisive tangent. Why would I need to engage with a tangent that has nothing to do with the topic currently in progress? Someone above mentioned how the Ukraine and Israel funding was misplaced, I agreed and then third replied on that same topic, a few of us replied...there was a LITTLE of the LEFT crap but not much and there was actual discussion about a political topic, not which party is better than another. So if YOU want to engage with a partisan tangent, feel free and good for you I am not interested and do you know why? There is no altruism with partisan babbling on either side, so sundance whining as always about the LEFT is the same as Kelly or others whining about the right, I dont care about some trap language in legislation, that is the pork taco I referenced...its a ploy its a game its a scheme and it is all the same. It takes legislation off the rails for partisan purposes and it is crap, but also as I said it has been going on since this country began..it is human nature. It would be super cool to have conversation from everyone and to omit the partisan whining...to have topical conversation without pointing fingers at a party, elevating or debasing one party to put down or elevate another. What could make this forum better is less partisan and more open conversation.

I'm all for disbanding the politics forum...great idea to implement but very difficult to control...and in no way shape or form can it be moderated with any degree of partisanship.....

It's like the old saying goes, you can't talk politics with others not even your friends...it's playing out right here in front of all of us...I'm sure the intent of this forum was to be a positive place to have intelligent and competent discussions but it has not panned out...sometimes you have to know when to cut your losses and move on when your expected plan is unattainable....I say we pack it up and move over to the Entertainment section and let the circus unveil what animals are laid out...

I'm voting ay to shutting it downclosed

Why 'invade' the Entertainment section with Politics.  If you think this Political Forum is bad, there are very many far worse ones with regard to civility -- yet, the discussions are much better overall.  They are detailed and nuanced -- but there is name-calling and bad language, etc.  This one is very mild.

But the folks that do not like this section simply stay in the other forums and ignore this one.

Since, some folks spend a lot of time on here in the other sports forums there is nothing wrong with having a Politics Forum as well.  When one sport season ends it gives people time to still be on here and still be on the other sport's forums that are still going on.

Yeah that will never happen. The reason why this forum exists is because without it this garbage floods the main forums. So the BETTER solution is to work at it member to member, stop being partisan, stop attacking, stop provoking and breaking the rules. Its funny, if you follow the guidelines of the site then ANY FORUM on the site functions properly, members wreck it and then pitch a fit when mods have to take action when members break the guidelines.

    Concern . . .

Putin plans to double Russia's troops along NATO border

The report is the latest warning from a Western official
that Putin still harbors an appetite for conflict and
represents an unpredictable threat nearly two years after
    his invasion of Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to double the
number of his country's troops stationed along its border
with the Baltic states and Finland as part of Moscow's
preparations for a potential military conflict with NATO
    within the next decade,
Estonia's Foreign Intelligence Service said Tuesday.

Kaupo Rosin, its director-general, told reporters that
"Russia has chosen a path which is a long-term confrontation."

Mary Trump warns that her uncle is a traitor who sides with US enemies at every opportunity.  Trump praises and defends Putin because he wants to be a dictator too.  He would let Russia attack NATO allies.  US intelligence warns of Russian new space weapon that could cripple US satellites.  Now world leaders blame Putin for death of political opponent Navalny in prison.  This is a reminder of what kind of monster Putin is.

    EU also imposes fresh sanctions:

The European Union adopted its 13th package of sanctions against Russia on Friday, including a further 194 individuals and entities responsible for hostile actions against Ukraine. It includes those involved in North Korea's armament supply to Russia, the bloc said. Almost 2,000 individuals and entities have been sanctioned since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago, the EU said. Russia called the sanctions “illegal, undermining the UN Security Council's international legal prerogatives” and announced it is expanding its stop list, barring entry to EU representatives.

I'm just glad that intelligent Americans fully understand that it is not Joe Biden's job to resolve every damn conflict between 2 other nations around the globe as a matter of foreign policy, and thereby declare that if despite US efforts without putting boots on the ground those two nations continue their conflict then that and any rising inflation around the world must be  ALL JOE BIDEN'S FAULT!  Because after the Ocotber 7 terrorist attack by HAMAS TERRORISTS, retaliation, terrorists attacks by HEZBOLLAH TERRORISTS, retaliation, and now threatened TERRORIST attacks by Iran and their proxies, this situation has always been a powderkeg that nobody in their right mind would think the USA must resolve it and if they don't then it's ALL JOE BIDEN'S FAULT.

Same applies to the TERRORIST ATTACK by nuclear power Russia on it's neighbor. All European and other democracy defending powers are tasked with that effort. It is not the responsibility of the USA.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group remains in the region after officials say that Iran launched dozens of drones towards Israel.

The strike group includes 6,000 sailors, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), and Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Mason (DDG 87) and USS Gravely (DDG 107).

an_clap The destroyers have the ability to intercept missiles. They have repeatedly intercept launches form Iranian proxies.

The group also includes Carrier Air Wing Three, which is composed of nine squadrons, including four strike fighter squadrons.

    an_police  Agreeing with Joe Biden!

Republican house speaker, Mike Johnson, responding to questions about approving Biden's aid packages

“Since World War II, the responsibility for the free world
has been shifted onto our shoulders. And we accept
that role. We’re an exceptional nation.”
“We’re the greatest nation on the planet, and we have
to act like it. And we have to project to Putin and Xi
and Iran and North Korea and anybody else
    that WE will defend freedom!”
