Germany agrees to send heavy weapons to Ukraine after major policy U-turn

(CNN)Germany has agreed to deliver anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, the German Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday, a move that underscores a major shift in its approach to providing military help to Ukraine.
The commitment to deliver the Gepard anti-aircraft systems was announced by defense minister Christine Lambrecht during a meeting of international defense officials at the Ramstein US Air Force base in Germany on Tuesday.
"We decided yesterday that we will support Ukraine with anti-aircraft systems ... which is exactly what Ukraine needs now to secure the airspace from the ground," Lambrecht said during the meeting at the base.

Very significant.   Germany is very serious on this war.   If Putin escalates by going after Moldova too, I would not be surprised if Germany proposes an alliances to send in troops.

The United States said the world was galvanised against Russia’s two-month-old invasion of Ukraine as it hosted more than 40 countries for defence talks in Germany that sought to speed and synchronise the delivery of arms to Kyiv.

US defence secretary Lloyd Austin hosted the event at Ramstein Air Base following a trip to Kyiv where he pledged additional military support to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s war effort, which is at a crossroads.

“As we see this morning, nations from around the world stand united in our resolve to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s imperial aggression,” Austin said at the start of talks.

Commerce department restricts technology and software exports to Russia

"These restrictions should continue to severely degrade
Russia's ability to sustain its aggression, as supported by
Belarus," the Commerce Department said in a statement.

In the meantime, Germany says they cannot send the weapons. Their stocks are depleted.

If America had a coherent leader, this all may have been avoided. Biden was supposed to meet with Putin but the last minute the meet was halted. Democrats knew they could not send Biden. He is incoherent and likely to make a fool of himself and America. So instead, Biden insulted Putin.

The Democrats are now trying to blame Putin for their total mishandling of everything they've touched in the last 16 months.

Productive talks.   The coalition has to stick together or world order will descent into global chaos and nuclear war.

U.S. Intelligence Has Reportedly
Helped Ukraine Kill Russian Generals

The United States reportedly shared intelligence that has helped Ukraine target and kill Russian generals during the Kremlin’s ongoing invasion of the country.

According to The New York Times, senior American officials said the U.S. had provided real-time battlefield intel to the Ukrainians, including the location of Russia’s mobile military headquarters. Ukraine then used that knowledge, as well as its own intelligence, to conduct artillery strikes and attacks to kill Russian officers.

Military analysts fear Putin may use Russia’s upcoming Victory Day holiday — on May 9 — to intensify attacks and mobilize the Russian people for a broader war.

An analysis released Tuesday by the nonpartisan think tank Energy Innovation finds that the climate change provisions of Biden’s now-defunct Build Back Better proposal, such as tax credits for buying new electric vehicles, would have reduced U.S. oil consumption by 2025 by half of the roughly 200,000 barrels of crude oil from Russia per day that the U.S. imported last year and by 2027, the U.S. would have cut oil consumption by more than it was importing from Russia
By 2030, the U.S. would have cut oil consumption by more than double its Russian imports!

Russia's aggression against its neighbors has prompted European countries to rethink how they defend themselves, perhaps none more so than Sweden, which over the past decade has rapidly increased its military spending and is now reevaluating its relationship with NATO.

Sweden's ambassador to the US, Karin Olofsdotter, told Insider on Wednesday that European security has been deteriorating for some time, pointing to Russia's war with Georgia in 2008 and seizure of Crimea in 2014, considered "a game-changer."

Sweden and its neighbors have watched Russian military activity warily in recent years, particularly in the Arctic, where Moscow has added forces, tested new weapons, and opened or refurbished bases.

Russia's attack has also increased Swedish support for NATO membership. Roughly one-third of Swedes supported it in recent years, but Moscow's actions have pushed that to over half, according to recent polls, which show support is even higher if Finland were to apply.
