He was a racist back in 2000 too..and refused to apologize for his use of a racial slur to condemn the North Vietnamese prison guards that held him captive during the war.

"I hate the goooks," McCain said yesterday in response to a question from reporters aboard his campaign bus. "I will hate them as long as I live.....

He voted against it every time, except for the key vote that would've killed it. He ran on repeal and replace, I live in AZ and voted or him previously but didn't in 2016. He ran a loser campaign against 0, no doubt about it, you could make a case he threw the election like a fixed boxing match...

Don't believe that bs... Utah, Arizona & Texas were on the flip list as well as FL, OH & MI were all going to be for the witch in November 2016... How'd that work out? Trump won on ending illegal immigration and Dems are doubling down on it in 2018 - sounds like a loser to me.

“At that time I liked him (John McCain) personally for his toughness and strong stance,”-- former NVA colonel Tran Trong Duyet, who ran the infamous “Hanoi Hilton”.

McCain isn't what the media is trying to portray him as.  They love him now because of that ridiculous thumbs down b.s. 3 am in the morning.  Never been a fan.  He liked to remind everyone how he got caught as a POW every five minutes like being caught and shot down is some kind of heroic thing.

A lot of folks have felt differently about him for a long time.  For example, like the one guy said:  "John McCain spent his service years serving the country and every year after that serving John McCain."

Senator McCain's "story" is a fictional one written by the Navy who was afraid of the bad press should the world discover that the son of one it's senior officers was a "hot dog" who almost sank an aircraft carrier and was broken by the North Vietnamese torture as a POW. He is more than anything else a survivor, an opportunist, a political animal who loved the headlines and the distinction of being a "Maverick". He is no better nor worse than the other duplicitous politicians who made fortunes by selling themselves to the highest bidder. He was no "hero", no "statesman", no advocate for the "common man". John McCain was for John McCain, first, last and always." -by Richard on Yahoo Post

True, he was a hotdog. He didn't "almost sink an air craft carrier..." He was on an aircraft that caught fire due to a weapon's malfunction. He was on said aircraft carrier because he actually served our country in an active war, as a pilot. That alone makes him a hero and a certified badass. And yes, he was shot down and captured. And yes, he was broken...AFTER 5 YEARS. He could've used his name and got off easy. Instead he remained, and was tortured, for 5 years. And now, in these audacious times, you have these beta males who have probably never even been in a fist fight, talking about who is or isn't a hero. That is the nature of our days.

McCain owed Palin absolutely nothing. He & his family get to choose who attends his services.

Mc cain will or should go down in history as one of the most overrated politicians of the last 50 years.

This thread like him needs that final nail in the coffin.

This is one of the most asinine things said in this forum in weeks. All politicians are overrated. You're speaking of him like he's a freakin' quarterback or somethin'. "You know, I always thought that Joe Theisman was overrated."

Let me ask you this, and believe me, i'm not defending him but what do you have against him.

Midnight1 is right.  Tacky and disrespectful of those who comment badly about the recently deceased.  Especially someone as well decorated with positive honors far greater than negatives in historical record.

Military honors include multiple bronze stars, purple hearts, navy commendation, silver star, legion of merit and distinguished flying cross for heroism.

Also many awards while in public service.  Policy maker of the year.  Douglas award for ethics in government.  Profile in courage.  Eisenhower leadership.  Vento public service.  Jackson disintinguished service.  Order of national hero.  Prize for civility in public life.  Order of liberty.  Order of freedom medal.  Liberty medal and honorary degrees.
