Honestly Stu, it's just the constant "he's a hero" talk that is just too much. I heard someone somewhere say "he spent a few years serving his country the rest serving John McCain". I think that pretty well sums it up.
Besides, my heroes are the guys and gals working 50+ hours busting there tails cleaning toilets, driving school buses, digging ditches, whatever it takes to get the job done. As flavor flav and Public Enemy said most of my heroes dont appear on a stamp.

This is true but there is another side of that coin. I can guarantee that the so called republicans on this site wouldn't be denigrating him if he had supported Trump. Or if he hadn't been a middle of the aisle republican. Most people on righties on here don't even really know why they don't like him just like most lefties don't even realize why all of a sudden he's their hero. It's all bullsh*t and most of the comments on here are full of just that.

So, in other words, if he had been a true conservative? 
Of course republicans know why they don't like him and haven't for years. Of course, more would've liked him if he supported Trump. But he could've garnered more of his own support when he ran, himself, if he had even been a middle of the aisle republican. He struggled to maintain the middle of the road part. Republicans have been wanting someone to stand up and not be so political. That is why Trump did so well. Also, why Sanders did so well. McCain turned out to be bland in the end, even though he had cultivated a fake maverick reputation.

Has this been a never ending tribute for John McCain or what. I don't remember the funeral etc for Ronald Reagan seemingly last for a month along with the non stop tributes on CNN and MSNBC. Did John McCain have a moment like "Mr. Gorbachev-tear down this wall!" I don't remember a political moment like that for the very liberal John McCain.

You mentioned something in another thread about Aretha Franklin's funeral being hijacked in the same way. About as classless as it gets. Specifically in Aretha's case. She wasn't a politician. She was a freakin' soul singer.
