We can use both Amazon & Costco to provide toiletries, canned goods & many other items. They will deliver them to all of the care centers.
After watching the incredible firefighters, the boss & I have donated to the LA Fire Dept who need hydration backpacks. You can get these @ Amazon as well but we decided to send money because I don't know if they require certain specifications for these.
Everyone...don't just sit around & think how terrible the situation is. Do something because you certainly make a difference.
Most importantly remember Cali folks will need help for months to come until a semblance of normalcy returns in their lives.

California Gov. “Moonbeam” Brown is quietly pushed state
lawmakers to loosen restrictions on logging regulations that were put in
place to satisfy raging environmentalists .... “a move that appears to
have confirmed that President Trump’s recent critiques of state logging
practices” and lousy forest management “was correct.”

Hypocrite Trump blames poor forest management but reduces federal funding for it. California is a leader in forest management and spends more than other states. Besides, federal government owns and oversees most forest land in California.
Many factors cause fires but poor forest management is down on the list according to firefighters. Years of drought and climate change are bigger factors. According to US forest service, climate change doubles area burned in the US. California wildfires aren't forest fires but are mainly in urban wildland interface areas. Real fuels are houses not build to resist fire.
Logging won't stop fires and climate change. Logging is more a cause of fires than a cure. It removes big logs but leaves more combustible debris that fires favor. Trump says there are alot of dry brush that needs to be raked. There is alot because of no rain. Dry conditions are worsen by manmade climate change. Finland laughs at Trump praising of raking as great way to prevent fires. But Finland has wet climate while California is dry.

Well put. I was going to point out a few things wrong with Slim's statement a couple of days ago but didn't have the energy to go in depth. And because I respect him, I wasn't simply gonna say, "You're wrong." with out supporting my stance. And he isn't completely wrong. Look, Cali is a bureaucratic boondoggle in many ways. So it doesn't matter if it's the forestry service, Caltrans, ect...none of them are really ran well. With that said, to simply say, "Poor forest managenent=fires" is misinformed, at best. And the biggest problem is the recent years of drought. Whether that is man-made or the will of god is a conversation for another thread.

Sure the extraordinary heat and drought conditions make these far worse. But, you have to be open about the other issues that have caused this to build up. Folks just look for a scapegoat. And they want to promote their own agenda (Global Warming). And they simply do not want to admit being wrong.
Whenever you get a couple of minutes read this link. It is a fairly succinct one. There are more detailed ones. But read it and see what you think. I pulled out a few of the highlights below.
Despite scientific evidence, the federal government continues spending more money on fire suppression than prescribed burns.
This means the Forest Service has only performed prescribed burns on 11.3 percent of the land they manage. When explaining to Mother Jones why the California Wine Country fires were so bad last October, fire ecologist Sasha Berleman said, “We have 100 years of fire suppression that has led to this huge accumulation of fuel loads.”
According to a Reason Foundation study, another flaw in forest management is a systematic reduction in timber removal. This began in 1990 when the spotted owl was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. In response, the Forest Service placed restrictions on timber harvests. Additionally, President Bill Clinton introduced a rule that restricted the construction of new roads on 49 million acres of national forest. This limited the ability of the Forest Service from thinning trees. In 1993, 1,797,574 acres of wildlands burned, but in 2017 this number jumped to 10,026,086 acres.
From 1960 to 1990, 10.3 billion board feet of timber were removed from federal forest land each year. From 1991 to 2000 that numbered dropped to 2.1 billion board feet of timber per year.
Air quality control laws also make it difficult for factories and private landowners to dispose of deadwood. The difficulty these regulations impose may prohibit private owners from effectively managing their land.

There's nothing wrong with the amount of prescribed burns and there's nothing wrong with the level of logging. The only issue is lack of water. Global warming is a real thing. It isn't up for debate. What is up for the debate is if it's the cause of drought conditions in California. And frankly, there's no real answer. There'a no way to know. The science behind it is like the science behind astronomy and astro-physics. Scientist have no way of knowing what's actually going on in space. They observe and make inferences. It's the same with much of this. However, i'm an outdoorsman so i'll always err on the side of the environment. And frankly, there are far too many politicians who have never taken a walk in the park, let alone a hike...climbed a mountain..kayaked down a river. To them, every tree is just unmilled lumber. We don't need more logging. We do plenty. Do we not have timber to build? We do need better management of open green spaces but what California needs more than anything is rain. And snow in the Sierras. And we need it every year. Two winters ago it rained like a biblical story. Last winter, hardly any. The three or four prior, hardly any. That's the issue.

The liberals here in Maine decided to make less access points to the Allagash wilderness waterway in Northern Maine. Blocking old road systems and entry points. JD Irving owns the land so John Martin D Eagle lake and Troy Jackson D Allagash. Citing Fire Concerns reopened them.... Conservative Conservationist in The Democratic Party seem to exist here in Maine as Troy profession is listed as a Logger. Most of our state is Forest lands. With majority of that land in Private landowners.... we do not have a fire problems.

What kind of rain do you get. How many years of drought has Maine had in the last 10 years? I'm guessing zero.

I'm bumping this so we don't forget to help those still in need.
We are quick to help those in other nations when disasters strike, so let's not forget our fellow Americans.
Wanna feel good? Do something right now to help.
Do you have a pet? The Humane Society of Ventura County will help reunite owners with their pets while providing comfort to those animals separated from their owners.
Do you have aging parents? Meals On Wheels is another organization helping those in need.
Do something to help.

California leadership does not have the intelligence to manage their own existance... Your state, your leadership and your stupidity deserve everything they get.... IDIOT...
California has always been a trendsetter; now the rest of the country is following along, again.

You resurrected a thread that hadn't seen the light of day in weeks to say this? On New Years Eve? How sad is your life? We agree on one thing though. I deserve everything I get.

Appears that the liar and thief in the WH might try to move FEMA money earmarked for the fires in Cali and the hurricane money that PR never got to fund his wall.
