However, there is one interesting fact about defending champions heading into the start of the regular season (gamblers, take notice).  In their first game of the next season, title-defending teams sport a record of 10-0-0.  Especially as of late, games have been close scoring-wise, but the 2008 Steelers' week one 13-10 victory over Tennessee in overtime is the closest a team has come to losing.  In this slideshow, we will look at the outcome of each defending-champions first post-Super Bowl game, as well as a summary of their season.

Will the Packers make it 3 Game 1 losses in a row to an nfc west team??  Probably, but even though they lose the Pack will steal the booty.

Aaron Rodgers, as we know, is a better Quarterback than Wilson,; however, he faces the leagues best secondary that allows only 14.4 points per game.  Can someone explain to me why there is such enthusiasm on the OVER in this game??????

Thanks for your reply.  I don't see it as "easy" at all.  Let's assume that Seattle's secondary is true to form and holds the Pack (and I'll give some "wiggle room here) to maybe 20 points, as opposed to the 14.4 average).  Are you saying that Seattle is going to easily score 27 or 28 to meet your over?   Somehow, I don't think so.  The clock, the clock, the clock!  Rodgers can certainly throw the ball,  but if this game is close, they'll run the hell out of Lacey.

I'm taking Seattle at home laying 5.5....

I expect the hawks to run the ball successfully and play sound defense to pull out a double digit victory....

Russell Wilson had a certain swagger in preseason as he moved the ball effortlessly in each appearance.

If you do bet GB, and I usually bet on Rodgers getting 5 when I can, make sure you realize they are starting a rookie center....

A rookie center starting his first game on the road against the Super Bowl champs in the loudest place in the known universe.....

Okay....................I'll go out on a limb.  Not only do I think the Pack plus 6 (as it is right now) is a great bet, but a great parlay is the Pack and Denver.  I think that Peyton will put his Super Bowl  nightmares to rest and put the Colts in e loss column handily!

Packers should have a decent run game this year as well.. Balanced offenses are harder to stop.. Think of how well Rodgers has done with no running game.. And now he has one? Gonna be hard to stop.. Also how will the refs call this one? If it's anything like preseason, a lot of first downs via penalties on the Seattle DBs..

Why would you make a parlay on 2 NFL games so far apart. Not telling u how to bet but way to many opoutunities between now and Sunday. Just take ur money off the table tonite is my advice.

This is how TNF is suppose to be right here fella's.....what a great game to start the new season off with. 

I've been leaning GB w/ the points, but my heart still says take the Hawks at home. 
One of my guys is back down to 5.5......that's a number that's hard not to take.
