The only reason I went with Boise State was because boucepete had it as his 17th pick and he jumped on it pretty early on in the week when the spread was at -17. I got it at -15.5 on game day. So it seemed like a pretty solid play for survivor and/or as a real bet.

Please Montreal Fans, don't boo the American national anthem on Monday night. They can't afford any bad karma going their way.

Just realized another interesting trend. Just looking at this month
alone, those at the top of the leader board almost never follow 1 loss
with another loss. Meaning that if one of the top players has a loss,
it would be a very good idea to tale their next pick.
For instance, mattcurtis who lost yesterday is going with the Yankees -130 today. Seems like a pretty good bet to tail. I bet if someone made picks based on this trend they would have a pretty solid winning percentage. The top 10 or 20 would have to be your sample. |

LA Dodgers LOSS
LA/Cinici Over 10 WON Detroit/Angels Uder 8.5 LOSS La Lakers +3.5 LOSS 1-3 record so far. I kind of had the suspicion that tailing the top 4 players would be a slippery slope. Since most seem to slip off a little towards the end. If only there was a way at the start of the month knowing who would end in the top 50. I'll just stick with these 4 guys, and see how it goes. But there's still a lot more to be learned. |

Have you seen Sarah Palin at a Tea Party rally. She is pushing for the same Bush-style foreign policy, and seems to be taking her points right out of the neo-con playbook. I'm not saying that she IS the tea party, but she does have many supporters. The tea party movement was originally started by republican congressmen Ron Paul, who was anti-war, anti-interventionist, for smaller government, and for less government intrusion. Both Paul and Palin speak at Tea Party rallies, but both have different views. It would be a contradiction to support both. There lies the problem. People who support the tea party movement have to make a decision as to what exactly they stand for. |

During the pregame "Ceremony" in Montreal last night, Alexander Ovechkin spays some kid with snow by breaking hard as he heads to the bench.
I really don't have a problem with it, as it was probably done as a joke. He was just playing with the kid, and having some fun with him. Some people think it was done purposely as a jab against the Habs. Some are also calling him classless. I wish it was done with malicious intent, in return putting some good karma back with Montreal. Basically, it is mostly composed of CONSERVATIVES. Most conservatives have been and are members of the Republican party, so why the shock? The Tea Party movement will have an impact on who is nominated in the various parties, mostly republican, but also on who is actually winning elections.
I believe you only described one half of the tea party movement. The other half, is fixated on increasing spending to fight foreign wars, policing the world, and taking away individual liberty in the name of fighting Islamic extremism. They are also for all of the things you mentioned, but only as a political talking point until they get into office and go back to increasing the size of government. The only question that remains is which half will reign supreme. |

Since their picks are at everyone's disposal, I won't bother posting
them until the results are in. I'll post my record, and see how I stack
up against other cappers on covers, by the end of April.
It seems as though mattcurtis, who is at 15 wins in a row, probably won't be focusing on the monthly contest, so he probably won't be making picks often. |

I know, I know, tailing someone's survivor picks is a slippery slope, and it never works. Nevertheless, I was looking at the monthly survivor contest and noticed that the majority of those that finish in the top 50 at the end of each month (2009, 2010) have a record of 68% or better. No one is below 60%. Those that finished in the top 5 have finished in the 80's and 70's in terms of percentage.
I figured that at this time of the month, when players have established themselves in the contest I would tail the top 4 players for the last 9 days of the month. It would just be a trial run, so no actual money wagered. Just to see where I would end up if I had placed a wager on each game. I know that the top 4 players at the present time aren't guaranteed to finish in the top four, but you have to start somewhere and they are the only one's with 17 wins so far. Here are the players; 1) mattcurtis 17-2 2)bzg 17-3 3)hoenig32 17-4 4)gb4cp22 17-4 |

Isn't comparing Illinois to New Jersey like comparing Hitler to Stalin. Sure... you could possibly make the argument that one is better than the other.

In all fairness it appears that creating a new Alias is not against covers rules. According to the manifesto, under Rule 3
"If you have been previously banned from our forum and return under a new alias username to cause shit, you will be banned immediately." The rule stipulates that as long as an Alias contributes to the forums in a positive way, they cannot be penalized, much less banned. |
