Bevo, I agree with your pick of UNI in the quarterfinal game. I have watched every Bison game for the past several years, and this year's team just does not have the caliber of defense of the past several years. Don't get me wrong, our defense is still solid, but prone to give up big plays. UNI always plays NDSU very tough, beat them last year by about 20 at Cedar Rapids (our only loss in 2014), and will not be overly bothered by the deafening Fargodome atmosphere. Two wild cards: injured Bison QB Carson Wentz, who Todd McShay has rated as 3d or 4th senior QB in the NFL draft, may return (from broken bone in his wrist) and numerous true FR and RFR really starting to contribute for Bison in past several weeks. (When you win four straight titles and have relatively great facilities and decent to good academics, shocker, recruiting goes well!) Anyway, I am such a homer that I cannot pick a UNI win, so I am going with NDSU by 2, fairly easy cover for UNI.

Now if my (4X defending champion) Bison can beat Montana, everything will be wonderful!

MEGA, you always do good/great work, but your analysis of the ACC champ. game was so insightful and informed that it damn near brought tears to my eyes. Great stuff!

Another great week Mega--trailed you on three picks and went 2-1. Greatly appreciate your incredible insight and hard work. Also had Wyo -1 (v. UNLV), which was in doubt until about three minutes remaining with Cowboys scoring a TD to provide the final score of 35-28. The Rebels actually are somewhat rimproved, but doubted if they could stop solid Wyo running back Sean Hill (I think that is his name), and he ended up gaining almost 250 yards.

Great work! I am looking forward to the rematch of my beloved Bison and the Grizz. We were killed by long passes in the season opener defeat. |

That's the spirit slomotion (and mean that sincerely, not sarcastically). Most of us on here have a great amount to be thankful for. Was watching the news last week re that terrorist attack in Mali, and kept on thinking "What a God forsaken place to live." Meanwhile, my big "stressor" right now is whether I should wait for TTU to (possibly) go to 2.5 or 3. Best wishes. |

Oops, typo--should have been "Will feel much BETTER" etc. (My first post in about a year, guess I could not handle the pressure, thus the typo.)

Welcome back, MEGA! Managed to go 1-0 in your absence (Northwestern + 11 at Wiscy), but even a blind squirrel etc. Will feel much with the "MEGALOCKS security blanket" this week!

Mega, any thoughts re "our old reliable" Wyo Cowboys at home giving only 4 to FAU? I realize they just finished with Oregon and next game (after FAU) is at Sparty. However, I think Bohl is a good enough coach that he will get the team to focus on FAU. Plus, Cowboys play reasonably good defense, so even if they sleep walk through the first half, they should still be close. (In Wyo's second game, against AFA, were mediocre most of first half, but looked solid (and, as you probably recall, got the cover) the second half. BOL this week! |

Very subtle "tout scam" and elicited some great points from BigDog and others. But as soon as I read that "NEVER LOSE" crapola....

Podsox, I agree with you, it's a situation where I generally would look to fade the favorite, but think the potential flat spot for BYU is strongly offset by the factors I mentioned. Also, BYU has Virginia at home next, so no look ahead effect. Mega, same to you! |

Mega, really like the Wyo pick. Going to ride the Bohl bus again after solid second half performance LW against AFA. (Although Cowboys were very fortunate to trail by only three at half.) Line now at 44 at Station Casinos, may wait until right before kickoff to see if I can get 44.5 or 45. Also, really like GeoSouthern, may trail you on that one. BOL!! |

YTD 6-6. One game so far this week, BYU -18 (-120). At first glance this may seem like a flat spot for BYU, coming off of the TX game. However, first home game for the Cougs, who get great support at home (What else is there to do in Provo?), so the home crowd will be very loud. Also, BYU may see itself as a very viable playoff contender, and with its schedule an undefeated season is very possible. (Toughest remaining games are with UCF, Boise and Cal, and while all are on the road that is not exactly an SEC or Pac12 caliber slate.) So with a national audience on Thursday night, BYU will want to have a great showing. Houston opened being humiliated at home 27-7 by TXSA, with Hou QB O'Korn throwing four picks and the team having -27 yards rushing. LW defeated Grambling 47-0, but nearly impossible to give Hou much credit for that since Gramb is mediocre at best, and had six turnovers and 15 penalties for 147 yards. With that type of performance, some Big Ten teams possibly could even have won that game. (Sorry, I am a Big Ten fan, but just could not help it.) So, while it is difficult since I finished my undergrad at the Univ. of Utah and thus naturally detest BYU, I am laying the 18. Also, considering going with Iowa State +10. Iowa is one of the least impressive 2-0 teams out there, getting by Northern Iowa by eight in the opener and LW trailing Ball State almost the entire game before prevailing 17-13 with two late TDs. Also, believe Hawkeyes All-American offensive lineman Sherf is out. Anyway, seems like to many points in this rivalry game. |

Jimmy, tailed you on USA--great call, never in doubt. (Actually, it was in doubt for me until the pick with about one minute left, since I had S. Ala. at -3, but not complaining.)

I realize it's still the 3Q, but certainly looks like I definitely over thought the Mizzou/Toledo game. Solid SEC team against (any) MAC team and only giving 4--that is a must play!

Very happy I laid off the KSU/ISU Under; almost went Over in the 1st half. After what NDSU did to the Cyclones LW and with the loss of their (ISU's) best receiver to a season-ending knee injury in that game, in my wisdom I figured ISU would put up about 10 in this game, which is why I almost played the Under.

WKU solid so far! But Navy....?

I did not get very good lines, since played relatively late (Friday evening). Also, about 75% of the time, if possible I buy a half-point. Anyway.... Navy -3 (Temple trending upwards, but think incredibly terrible Vandy effort and coaching--I think Mason should rotate FIVE QB's--made Temple look better than it is. Middies always solid--I hope.) WKU +4 (Wish I had been able to get the 6ish this one opened at.) S. Alabama (Inspired by JimmydaFreak on this one.) USC/Stanford Under 54.5 Sparty -13.5 (Think Mariotta is great and still worried about that hit Connor Cook took on his knee LW, but way too many points. One of those plays that even if it loses it is still the "right side.") ULM -13.5 (Pure potato fade.) ASU -23.5 (Lobos crapped the bed against UTEP and Mr. Congeniality Todd Graham will gladly run it up.) Duke -19 (Cannot help loving the Dookies, Cutcliffe is a genius and Trojan condom fade.) SJS/Auburn Over 67 (Bad line, opened 64ish, but maybe foolishly still like it. Counting on SJS for about 24 points.) Wyo +2.5 (Great respect for Craig Bohl, but for that matter also for Troy Calhoun. I know Wyo last top two QBs from last year, but they were "West Coast offense type QBs" anyway, and Bohl plays old school, so not really a loss. Expect Wyo defense to be solid. Somewhat skeptical AFA much better than last year, so going with the home team.) CSU +10 (Rams looked solid against CU, with Dee Hart in near beast mode, and Boise IMO somewhat overrated. Expect BSU to win, but bot quite by 10.) TTech/UTEP Over 65.5 And if you think I have too many plays, I blame it all on Train. So many games, so little time! |

Great stuff, as always, BA! I'm on, at a minimum, CSU, Sparty, Wyo and the USC/Stan Under. BOL and thanks for the wisdom!
