STUPIDITY: MAGA: What I like best about Trump is no wars! The Donald Day 13: “I’ve ordered military air strikes in Somalia.” MAGA: Who's Somalia? MAGA: Our lord and master will bring down food prices. The Donald: I’m placing tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. And tonight at an NHL game in Ottawa, Canadians booed the US National Anthem. Can you believe that?

NO ONE WINS: Compared with any other major country, the United States has been extremely fortunate in its two immediate neighbors, Canada and Mexico. Now, incredibly, it is declaring economic war on both of them. This is a war no one can win, and from which tens of millions will lose. Does anyone know why The Donald is doing this? It's a self inflicted gunshot wound to our economy. His first foreign policy initiative is to attack our neighbors & our own citizens? Where's the logic? Are you on the right taking The Donald literally yet? This is insanity. |

Guess it fits the title of the thread. Bush #1 starting using Guantanamo as a detention center which was continued by Slick Willie but I can't verify your 45k figure. Can you? Well, well, well. If one does a media search on "Clinton used Gauntanamo Bay" you get from; PBS; "The little known history of Gauntanamo Bay". The move, first made by the George H. W. Bush administration, would lay the groundwork for the U.S. government in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks to claim it could hold people at Guantanamo Bay beyond the reach of American law. They skipped right past Clinton. USA TODAY; The center occupies a small portion of the base, with limited capacity, and cannot house the 30,000 people Trump suggested could be sent there, according to a report by the The Associated Press. No mention of Clinton there! Reuters; The detention facility at Guantanamo Bay was set up in 2002 by then-U.S. President George W. Bush to detain foreign militant suspects following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. There are 15 detainees left in the prison. NBC NEWS; (my favorite) "CLINTON SLAMS GAUNTANAMO PRISION" So where did I find 45,000?? STARS & STRIPES MAGAZINE; https://www.stripes.com/branches/navy/2025-01-30/guantanamo-bay-immigrants-16650045.html In 1994, for instance, President Bill Clinton resumed the previous administration’s use of the Guantánamo base for processing Haitian refugees and later ordered Cuban asylum seekers caught at sea to be held on the base. And the fact the population totaled 45,000. All at one time or maybe a yearly total? Could be. Don't blame ya for questioning me, media doing their Trump era selective reporting......again. I was here for the Mariel boatlift in the 80's when Castro emptied his jails & allowed thousands more to leave the island & it was wild with boasts arriving at all hours of the day. Many of them ended up in our jails & soon we had the influx of coke with the Cocaine Cowboys & eventually they were also put in jail. For those who were stopped before they reached our shores, Guantanamo was the logical place to secure them. As far as the Haitians, they have been coming here for decades. There are pros & cons as to how the Clinton administration dealt with the unrest, poverty & Haitians fleeing their country in fear of their lives. However, the 45k number kept in Guantanamo surprises me. |

The really crazy thing about this #9 Rojo Rita is she won her 1st first race & by 16 lengths! Glad to see the DD 7-7 paid $60. I rarely play the west coast tracks. It's hard to keep up with everything in the east/south. I'm not crazy about the 5 & 6 horse fields that they put on the racing cards. There was a race today @ Santa Anita for 200k & only drew 4 fillies, 3 of which were trained by Baffert. I can't stand that crap & the funny thing about it is Mandella's #3 Copion beat all 3 of them. |

Race 11 #4 Tiz Dashing has shown tons of heart in both his races winning at first asking & a tough 2nd in his last. But I don't like playing Barclay Tagg horses. So against my better judgement, I'm putting him on top. Tri key 4 with 2357 |

Any prosecutor involved in any Jan 6 case is apt to be fired. This is pure vengeance by a petty little man. He doesn't give a shit what chaos will result from these knee jerk reactions as long as he gets his pound of flesh.

Like any comedian, it's more workshopping. They have sets where they're working out jokes and bits and it's almost like rehearsal but because it's Dave, everyone expects everything to be comedic gold. I thought his last special was kinda trash, having seen him work out many of the jokes in pop up shows. It's hard to stay on top as a comedian. You plateau, and then there's no where to go but down. He's smart in that he sticks and moves, does pop up shows, and still theatres. It alleviates the pressure of constant arena touring. Comedy is a fickle trade. Sebastian Maniscalco has been one of the highest grossing comedian for several years running. Is he funny? Couldn't tell ya. Never seen even one of his jokes. Nate Bargatze is one the highest as well, and I think was highest this year. I literally had never heard of him until he hosted SNL for the first time. Saw Chappelle down here about 8 years ago & was disappointed he only did 90 minutes & agree some of his stories are too long. So in a 90 minute gig, you'll get 8 or 9 stories but he left me wanting more which is what a good performer does. |
