Hey Webba.. How are you old friend
C/T: I remember back in the day (Steam room) If you were new to the forum there was a restriction on the number of posts and threads for awhile, I cant remember if it was time based or # of posts made. no prospect should be able to start more than a few threads an hour imho. |

Dude...You are right about Lafell.. brain fart on my part.. He still had the drops that game 4 catches with 9 targets vs Denver.. I should have remembered that as I was at that Jet's game lol.
Number 11 in this game is the key.. Having Hightower and Collins in the game frees up the DB to focus more on the receiving core of the Broncos.. If this game is close, it's because there is an injury or few.. |

I should have included the line that Edelman, Hightower and Collins are playing and ready.
The Steelers led the whole game last week until a 2nd string RB fumbled. A banged up Steelers team hung with them until the very end. If the Steelers were in Foxboro today, the Line would be Patriots -7. Any given Sunday and all.. but the Patriots will roll here. |

Hi all, as my screen name might indicate I am a Patriot Homer. For those on the fence on where to put your money, let me toss out a few thoughts.
The Patriots are healthier today than they have been in 6 weeks. The first game between these two teams, Edelman was out, and Gronk got hurt in the 4th. It was Lafell's first game back and he had 5 dropped passes in the first half alone. The Pats best runner was out for the season already, and yet the Patriots took it to over time. On the Defensive side of the ball, the Bronco's had no run game until Hightower got hurt, and the other run stuffer Collins was already out. If either of them are in that game, it's very unlikely Anderson runs for 40 plus yards to win the game. If you recall the Patriots had the Bronco's on the ropes until a punt reception fumble by a rookie (no longer on the Patriots) which gave the Bronco's momentum and great field position. Peyton is a shadow of his old self and it would not surprise me if he is benched by the 3rd qtr for OZ. Pats win 24-13 GL with however you wager. |

Hi.. Well I was deployed to the lovely country of Iraq for a time and when I came back my heart was not into it. The Covers team is the best and I have nothing but love for this place. The Penalty box seems a bit tame from the "old days" but that probably is a good thing. KOAJ was the man and so was Lipp. Is Ponch still around? To the person who asked why I was banned once.. It was back when Covers had the "steam room" and I think it was during an ingame thread where the Red Sox lost, and I lost a ton of money and I flamed out on someone after a few hundred beers.. lol.. all good.

Hi all.. It's been a few years since I posted or roamed the halls here at Covers. I just wanted to check in and say hello to any of the Covers "Old Timers" who are still around. I was a mod about a decade ago and enjoyed my time hanging out here.
From mine family to yours, Happy 2016.. RedSoxWin. |

$ 2.8 Million seized and 8 arrested in illegal sports betting ring
in General Discussion
Hey all.. been awhile since I cruised these forums regularly. Saw this article and immediately thought of old friends I met on here. I hope all is well and this case bears watching.
"Eight Las Vegas area men have been arrested and face money laundering and conspiracy charges after agents shut down a major national bookmaking ring. The Nevada State Gaming Control Board Enforcement Division, working with the New York Police Department, the FBI and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, participated in the service of search warrants and the arrest of eight men from the Henderson and Las Vegas areas." Even if they do not get another bat, due to injuries to every positional player not named Drew or Papi, next years team should have a much more productive season then last... simply because the Red Sox had to trot out AAA(A) talent a lot all season.
While I hope the Sox do go out and get Werth for Left Field, outside of bullpen help, I like the 2011 team as constructed (with AGon of course.) |

"Jeff Legwold and Dave Kreiger of the Denver Post report that the league
is looking into whether the Broncos recorded a San Fran walk-through
practice at Wembley Stadium on October 30, the day before the two teams
played there. On the 30th, each team had access to the venue for the
session aimed at reviewing key portions of the game plan.
Per the Post, Broncos COO Joe Ellis confirmed that Broncos director of video operations Steve Scarnecchia is on a “personal leave of absence” as the NFL and the team investigate the situation." LINK And you just know the media focus will be on the Patriots connection... |

Hey Van.... I hope all is well. I wondered about the major move and after lineups were announced, nothing of note there.. no whisper of an injury or a DUI last night that I could find. the only "tangible" stat or fact is tonight's home plate ump seems to like the Braves and not the Giants. small sample size but the last 10 games he called for the Braves it's like @ 8-2 win for them and 2-8 for the Giants. Hanson is 2-0 and Cain is 1-3 in games he has called. small sample size and all, just throwing it out there. GL

If the Patriots did not trade Moss during the season, the best return they could get for him (assuming they did not sign him) is a 5th round draft pick. The formula the NFL uses for Compensatory Draft picks indicates a 10 year veteran returns a 5th round pick. At last year's draft the Pats got 4 picks between the 3rd and 7th rounds from Compensatory picks.

Maybe, he was thinking the exact time would happen twice... 4 am and 4pm?
My thought was it would happen once for every time zone and it would make a great drinking game... But, I am Irish, and we tend to look for reasons to drink. |

I just read a yahoo article about some recently made public documents of the Balco Grand Jury investigation. To make a long story short, the main drug THG "the Clear" Bonds was accused of taking, was not an illegal drug when he was supposed to have been taking it.
The feds knew it and essentially were trying to get him and other athletes to perjure themselves so they could get a conviction... any conviction. “It sounds like a misuse of the grand jury,” said John Bartko, a former assistant U.S. Attorney in San Francisco who has tried perjury cases. “They go and try to trip the guy into lying.” The government believes it has tripped Bonds, but whether he falls will be determined in court. The fact that the key drug he is accused of taking was legal and not recognized as a steroid under federal law could complicate the case, experts say." LINK Talk about a huge waste of Tax Payer $ |
