agree 100% on the ESPiN comments. its a cram job by them on public just like any other story. they try to be trendy and be with the cool/dominant teams and the run for the sec has been over. its only getting worse for them as the rest of the teams have evened up.
disagree 75% on Hackenberg and I have no idea why you have such a hatred for him. he is impossible to scout because his o line is so bad, his o coordinator is a complete joke. His freshman year he was very good with a NFL offensive mind coaching him in O'Brien. O'Brien used tight ends, created space on offense and actually used screen passes. I do not know a qb in college who throws a better deep ball yet PSU refuses to throw deep balls. No doubt the kids cage has been rattled when you get sacked 54 times in his last 13 games, but how many qbs in college have lead their teams back on a final drive more than him. NONE is the answer and he did it in last years bowl game. My biggest criticism of him as a fan is he does not make the best decisions at times and throws short passes with too much heat on it. He's like a caged siberian tiger in this offense with this o line and o coordinator. I would bet a lot he will succeed in spades at the next level, especially if he lands back with O'Brien in Houston. He has all the intangibles. We will see.

How does them losing to Temple have anything to do with any of that? Well I guess I know how, Joe would never lose to Temple and he sure as hell would not lose to teams like Ohio or UCF like they have the last few years. Problem is those sanctions that they reversed because they went too far and blamed the wrong people, kind of effecting the o line now and depth on defense. But ncaa did their damage because they jumped the gun and now are getting sued and paying PSU back with scholarships and bowls. 3rd coach in 5 years doesnt help matters either. |

Awfully tough on Hackenberg alone there BOOM. He has seemed to underachieve a bit, but lets look at why.
He was sacked TEN times in a game Saturday. 44 last year. The kid kept coming out and taking his whooping. Tell me one qb in the world that will put up good numbers, have confidence, or be remotely successful when he is pinned on the ground or at least constantly pressured. The O line is awful again this year and the OC John Donovan has done nothing to change offensive philosophy after an off season knowing this would be an issue again. Announcer Huard mentioned it on the set, Penn State threw ONE pass over 15 yards in that game. It was completed. What a joke. All they do is run the same 3 plays every time and is the most predictable offense in america. I can't even watch it anymore. Look back at games since the start of last year, PSU is successful on the first few drives of a game and then it just goes downhill from there. Its because the coordinator doesnt adjust or change anything. Its a shame the most talented qb penn st will ever have was wasted by an o line and oc who is clueless. No conincidence as a freshman Hackenberg with Bill O'Brien was very successful. He will be a great pro if hes not too damaged by the end of this year, hell i just hope he is alive to see the nfl. Heads are spinning in Unhappy Valley this week and Franklin better right this ship quick. Great job last week and always a great read. Good luck to you this year. |

this has been known for weeks, ncaa trying to save face before trial and settle out of court for all the mistakes and rush to judgement they made.
ncaa heads were caught in court saying they never even read the Freeh report, the same report that was treated as gospel by the NCAA to sanction PSU to seem all high and mighty 3 years ago. Now the one's doing the punishing to PSU 3 years prior are the guilty one's of not only lying but a cover up. Oh the irony! |

Dieffenbach should be back at left guard this week from his acl issue which makes the left side of line insanely better. they have basically ruined hack this year, the o line that is. i could not endorse betting penn st in this game even with 107k in white on primetime. i have no clue why this game is on abc. psu is down to just 48 scholarship players healthy yet somehow they play tough enough on defense to stay in games....but that o line is fugly, real fugly and ohio st d line is their strength. sorry to butt in boom, but best of luck this year, hope psu is competetive in that one. health!!

what a great speech that man in your picture from Penn State gave about keeping the bills in buffalo.
you know i thought i would share when terry pagula gave my our commencement speech at Penn State he always stressed the importance of how loyalty to people is so important. So happy he could save the city of Buffalo and keep the team there for those great loyal Bills fans. Being from Rochester myself, I know full well how important that is to people like you. Terry Pegula exemplifies We Are!!

NCAA Restores Penn State's Postseason Eligibility Effective Immediately
in College Football Quote Originally Posted by cappy22: Unfortunately, you and a lot of others are missing a lot in your dislike of Penn State that pre-dates the Sandusky scandal. SMU committed football crimes. Penn State did not commit any football crimes. Here are some facts (and these are facts, not interpretations): 1. Per the NCAA policy on reporting sexual assaults, Joe Paterno did exactly what the NCAA said someone in the athletic department should do. Look what the NCAA put out regarding handling campus sexual assaults the other week for yourself. Paterno did just that. 2. The famous "kid in the shower" that Mike McQueary saw ? Did you know he had a statement to the police that he was NOT molested by Sandusky on that night McQueary thought he saw a molestation incident ? Did you know that Sandusky was NOT convicted of "rape" on that charge ? What got people going was the grand jury presentment that Mcqueary "saw and anal rape" and told Paterno. Well, McQueary NEVER testified as such. That was the attorney general writing the presentment and blatantly lying. 3. Did you know that one of Paterno's grandkids was over Sandusky's house for one of Sandusky's kid's birthday parties in 2011 ? IF anyone in the Paterno family thought Sandusky was a pedophile, do you really think they would want their little child / grandchild there ? 4. Paterno and Sandusky did not get along and did not socialize after Sanduskys' retirement in 1999 ? 5. Did you know that when asked by his superiors in 1999 about Sandusky's retirement package, Paterno said that Sandusky should not be allowed to bring his kids from his charity into football facilities because of "liability issues." Well, guess who nixed that idea and allowed access ? Rodney Erickson, the guy was recently the interim president. 6. Did you know that not one incident with Sandusky and children was on Penn State's campus following the McQueary incident in 2001 ? Not one. The media and Louis Freeh made it seem like kids were being "raped" from 2001 and before all the way to 2011 on campus. Not true. He also was not convicted of any "rape." The word "rape" outrages people and is purposely thrown around to sensationalize the story. 7. a 1998 incident regarding Sandusky and a boy in a shower was investigated by the DA and no charges filed because they did not make a molesting finding. Since there were no charges, it would have been illegal for anyone in that investigation to even tell Paterno about it! That's why he never knew about it. 8. The Board of Trustees fired Paterno and then had to hire someone to write a report to justify it - otherwise, they would look like idiots. So, they got Freeh to grandstand (calling a press conference on the Monday of baseball all-star week when there are no sporting events that day) and promote these myths that have gotten the haters and a lots of others so worked up. 9. The grand jury presentment purposely got the date of the McQueary incident wrong (they have it occurring in 2002) so that they could sneak in charges against the PSU administrators within the statute of limitations - - the record has been corrected to reflect that the actual date of the McQueary incident is March 2001. Outside of the statute and a legal issue in the case. 10. Sandusky was not employed by Penn State in 2001 - he was employed by his charity, the Second Mile. He had been retired from PSU for 2 years in 2001. Somehow, no one sued the Second Mile and the press didn't care because it's not as juicy as Paterno and Penn State. 11. You do realize that things like the Freeh Report and grand jury presentment are one-sided documents that are not cross-examined and no defenses offered ? It is like going to a trial, hearing the prosecution side, but hearing no evidence or anything from the defense. In that case, everyone would look guilty. The public did not receive the benefit of the other side because of this irresponsible rush to judgment by the media which feeds the masses. 13. Paterno told his superior what McQueary told him. McQueary talked to the AD and VP. The AD talked to the Prez. The AD told Sandusky's employer. McQueary testified that no one told him to keep quiet. How in the world is that a cover-up ?? In cover-ups, you don't tell people stuff. The simple fact of the matter is that the PSU AD talked to Sandusky about what McQueary said he saw, and then believed that Sandusky was not a molester. That's why no one went to the police. Adoption agencies let this guy adopt 6 kids. His charity knew he showered with a boy, and didn't think he was a molester but maybe had boundary issues that needed to be addressed. People got fooled. But the media and others would rather believe that people knew and covered it up rather than being rational and seeing that child molesters are in our midst every day, and we can't easily see that. That scares people and pisses them off. 14. The NCAA had no business sticking their nose in this. The crimes were by a retired football coach in a non-football matter. This is not even close to SMU. There is so much more to this, and it is so complex. Hate on Penn State all you want, but they did not commit any crime. The only criminal in this was an ex-employee, Sandusky, who is in jail for life. Thats a BINGO!!! Great stuff, could not have said better myself. We have FACTS they have ASSumptions and theories. FACTS win every time. First of many NCAA apologies here. |

Franklin will be fine, he just needs time to get players in there and get these sanctions behind them. Once that happens, it wont be long until Ohio St and PSU dominate the conference and have epic battles. By that time, Sparty will fall to the waste side and Michigan will probably be delayed by another coaching change soon.

war---there are some homely people in State College (mountain people), most live on the outskirts of campus of course. a lot a lot of rich kids as students though. hit a bar up on old main, quality vagina all over. cops are insane there and love to throw people in jail, especially if they are from out of town.
packers- you said michigan would go undefeated last year. anyone can make 500 crazy predictions and have a few come to fruition. (sorry you will have to use the encyclopedia for fru-i-tion.)
