Van how do the tie breakers work. Say if ECU beats Hon than beats France. That would tie them with France. Who gets the top seed. I ask because I bet fairly big for France to win this group.
First tie-breaker is goal differential. France looking great to win group as long as france does not lose by a blow-out and/or combined with switzerland winning by a blow-out.
Making sizable bets without knowing the rules =

Thanks Bob. I kind of thought so but honestly I am not betting blind folded. I figured they would breeze this group for the reason I feel France is good enough to win this. Not fearing Brazil that much but I fear Germany.
I do know the sport having played as a kid until I was about 30. Went to several WC games at the Rose Bowl and at Stanford. I know the sport but rarely bet it.
Thanks again.

I promised to be honest in this thread - so here goes. Do I like you (or the "train" character)? Nope.
You consistently post unavailable lines. You consistently dont explain that you supposedly pay extra to get those lines. You consistently do anything to get attention, such as thread titles and outrageous statements. When confronted, you consistently dodge the issue and blow it off - like you do in your question to me - saying "that is just me".
So no, I dont like what you post. It goes against what I believe this place is for, and is crystal clear why you do it - for attention. Can you tell me a reason to post an unattainable line otherwise? Can you tell me a reason to not explain that you supposedly purchase points, but conveniently dont include those extra costs in your record? Im not an idiot, and surprisingly neither are a lot of other people here. They tolerate you, but know what you are up to.
Is it just a character? Maybe, who knows. But the difference between the vanzack yacht going supermodel blowing character and you is that I draw the line at gambling. I shoot it straight, and feel that if you are posting a pick it is to help people out. Why do you post picks? Try to answer that honestly because I cant come to any other answer that doesnt insult my intelligence other than attention.
There is nobody that gets better lines than you. There is nobody that could get as good of lines as you - you get the best line possible in every market over the life of the market. If you could do this, I would hire you. So the question is - why do you post that? To stir up garbage? Maybe. But you could stir up garbage in other ways. You do it because you like others to think you are better at handicapping than you really are. A phony for no reason.
I made a couple of posts in your thread about it, but largely leave you alone. Everyone knows what you are about at this point, it doesnt take me to create a debate with you to shine the light in - it is very bright in there already.
Thats the truth. You asked for it.

Of all the games so far - this is really the first time I feel like I got it totally 100% wrong and should have known better.
It played out exactly like it should have - and I was just blind to it.
It's interesting how Balotelli was invisible ever since the chance at the goal he blew early in the first half.
A day before, as I was watching Japan vs Greece I thought to myself: Japan are lacking a finisher. Balotelli would be great on this team. Someone to play 'above the rim'. All Japan needed was one Balotelli header (and they weren't lacking for crosses) to make Greece actually step outside their shell and get annihilated 2-3 goals.
And yet this same guy barely touched the ball playing against a mobile, organized defense of Costa Rica. Absolutely phenomenal display by CR, but also goes to show how every top team must have balance. Last games by Japan and Italy exposed their flaws: inability to finish and inability to create and 'burst into space', respectively.
So... which 'great looking' team gets exposed next?

When you can challenge me in any sport, your opinion might matter....that will be roughly never.
TRAIN rules.
Post 738 sums up why I could never challenge you in any sport, even if I wanted to. So in that regards, I'll take the Train approach and won't dispute the facts.
Done hijacking Van's thread with this nonsense. If I were you, I'd read Kurshka's post until you could grasp why no regular on this site gives a single word you say any substance. But "that is just me."

"The main story of the world cup for me is that the Western Hemisphere teams are bringing out a style of football that the European teams are having trouble with."
Well put, Van. Chile was a team I would have ranked below England in the last WC, now it is obvious they are well above. Uruguay has been rising for years. At the lower end we have Costa Rica shocking the world. Honduras and Ecuador are also respectable sides capable of surprising the complacent.
I am happy that the disparity gap is being narrowed in this particular region.
Sadly, the same cannot be said for Asia and Africa. Other than Australia, I don't see the same level of progress from those regions.
Also, we need to keep in mind the impact of the location of the tournament, a factor that will only magnify on teams from the region as we progress.
The absence of Suarez was only magnified by his subsequent performance which further skewed a lack of perception that CR might just be for real.
Most bettors (including me) never saw Costa Rica coming. The question is what does this mean going forward, which is why I read your posts.
Having said that, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't see this coming, because I heard an internet rumour that the SS Vanzack Supermodel Party Yacht is docked in Costa Rica most of the year.
Just kidding, lets go France!

BTW - 2 tips I can give to those just starting to watch soccer and bet it....
1. Watch these games without sound. Let your eyes tell you what is happening.
2. While watching the ball is necessary - make yourself NOT watch the ball for long stretches. Watch everything else going on on the screen away from the ball. This is the single best way to understand what is going on.
Best advice !

Australia over Spain outright now sitting at +785. Not saying that this is a lock, but it is probably the best +785 bet that you will see this year.
Australia have accorded themselves well against two formidable opponents.
Spain are out, and I question whether the veterans will be willing to risk their waning future earnings by giving it their all in a mean nothing game.
Having said that, they may try and win one last game as a national squad, but it is the end of a spectacular era in Spain, and I don't think the players who once played high stakes poker will embrace sitting at the one dollar table.
Australia have been a pleasant surprise. They will be without one of their best players, Cahill, for this match, but they have the opportunity to go home with their heads held even higher while claiming a win against the world champions.
Their is a motivation gap here.
It is worth a small play at the price.

I remember you from when Beets put you on the Hot Seat in the PB. I asked several questions and you gave me great answers and mine were gambling questions not what is your favorite color. That was a good thread except for Wrigs. I had about a 10 page war with him shortly after. Poor guy it was Covers was his life. He tried so many times to come back but Wall zapped him every time. Printed out your poker thread that you wrote, great stuff. Never knew you and GH got into it. Maybe before I joined.
Van and I buried the hatchet a long time ago on his yacht partying with super models!
For all the whiners out there, cream rises to the top and Vanzack will be on top when the Cup comes to an end!

Sage advice - or for a compromise you could tune to Univision so you can hear the game atmosphere but not understand.
You will probably enjoy the match more - even futbol veterans as Latin American commentators are loco (read: greatly enhance the TV game experience - trust me everyone watching the lackluster ESPN feed should try it)
Of course the best way is no sound, agreed. Even better would be wider camera angles to reall see what is going on around midfield while the ball is near the box.

I hope you're wrong. Aussie Defense is garbage and if Spain doesn't come out and perform anything other than balls to the wall to save whatever pride they have left before they go home with their tails between there legs, then shame on them and i hope there bus gets mauled when they reach their home town. lol

Very good!!!
Also watch *team speed*
How they counter attack and how they handle counter attack *speed matter*
How the two corners playing against each other *speed matter* (offensively against defensively). The team that has better corner would have lots of advantage.
Spain has no speed in this tournament.
Germany has lots of speed
Australia does well because of their speed
But do not only look at speed as the only factor to wager on game (England has more speed than Uruguay)
