The crowd at the Rogers Centre should be buzzing on Saturday. The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off their first win of the season, and Max Scherzer makes his much-anticipated Blue Jays debut.
While most eyes will be on Mad Max, I’m focused on who the Baltimore Orioles will send to the mound, Dean Kremer.
The right-hander won’t be happy to see Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has already hit a bunch of bombs off him during his career, and my Orioles vs. Blue Jays predictions are betting Vladdy has another big day at the dish.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Big day at the dish!
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at BetVictor)
All eyes will be on Max Scherzer on Saturday afternoon. The newest Toronto Blue Jays starter is a future Hall of Famer and a key piece to this Jays rotation in 2025.
The problem is that Mad Max has been dealing with a thumb injury on his throwing hand. So, the Blue Jays and their fans will be watching how effective the 40-year-old can be against a lineup as dangerous as the one the Baltimore Orioles employ. Luckily for him, I like his odds of getting some run support today,
Toronto’s bats broke out in Friday night’s 8-2 win. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Anthony Santander all collected two hits in the win, and now they get a solid matchup against the Orioles’ right-hander Dean Kremer.
The 29-year-old is coming off an unspectacular year for the O’s. Kremer pitched to a 4.49 expected ERA, which ranked in the 25th percentile, and ranked in the 44th percentile in strikeout rate, punching out 2.22% of batters faced.
Kremer’s problem last season was that his four-seam fastball and cutter were flat. That allowed opponents to square him up, and as a result, he ranked in the 13th percentile in barrel rate, with opponents getting to the four-seamer for a .536 expected slugging and the cutter for a .479 xSLG.
Not surprisingly, Guerrero is one of those guys who's locked in against Kremer. The star first baseman is 10-for-28 with five dingers and two doubles in his career vs. Kremer. That’s good for a .356 xBA and a .842 xSLG.
It was also good to see Vladdy get two knocks yesterday — including a double — for three total bases. We can still get Over 1.5 total bases at plus money for Saturday afternoon’s game, and I don't hate the odds for him to smack his first dong of the season at +425 either.
Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI
Alejandro Kirk Over 0.5 singles
Let’s double down with Guerrero’s big day at the dish by adding him to get an RBI to this SGP. Vladdy drove in his first run of the season on Friday night, and he’s been one of the most consistent run producers in baseball, totaling 405 RBI over his last four seasons.
As noted, the matchup against Kremer is good for the Jays slugger, and our Covers Prop Projections have Over 0.5 RBI as a five-star play. I’ll have a single wager on this as well today.
Let’s round out this SGP with Alejandro Kirk to do his thing and knock a single. Captain Kirk may still be trying to find that magic that earned him an All-Star berth in 2022, but he has excellent bat control, which plays well against Kremer, who doesn’t miss many bats.
In fact, Kirk is 6-for-17 in his career vs. Kremer with five singles, and he's begun 2025 with a single in each of his first two games.
