Giants vs Braves betting preview
Starting pitchers
Logan Webb (6-2, 3.43 ERA): Logan Webb is fresh off arguably his finest performance of the season, as he blanked the Royals over seven innings while accumulating nine strikeouts last Tuesday. He’ll try to build on that against the Braves, a team he pitched to a 1.29 ERA against over 14 frames last season.
Max Fried (7-2, 2.90 ERA): Since dropping each of his first two starts in 2022, Max Fried has yet to taste defeat. He’s recorded the win in seven of his last 11 outings, with Atlanta going 9-2 behind him in that span. However, Fried didn’t look all that sharp when last seen on Tuesday, allowing four earned runs to the Nationals over 5 2-3 innings.

Giants vs Braves picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
The Braves’ superior pitching staff should carry their team to victory over the Giants on Monday night.
Max Fried has picked up a quality start in five of his last six games at home, pitching to a 2.43 ERA in that sample. He’s averaged nearly a strikeout per inning on the mound in that stretch, accumulating 36 Ks over 37 frames. Fried took on San Francisco twice in 2021 and held their lineup to a .182 average over 13 innings.
Backing Fried is a Braves bullpen that’s exceled throughout 2022, authoring a 2.92 ERA, good for third in the majors. This unit has been as sharp as ever over the last two weeks, producing a 1.35 ERA, the best in baseball over that span.
Countering for the Giants is Logan Webb, who’s underachieved on the road in 2022, recording a 4.25 ERA. By contrast, his home ERA is 2.74. This comes on the heels of some sharp splits for Webb in 2021, as he authored a 1.96 ERA at Oracle Park, but a 4.08 ERA everywhere else.
San Fran’s bullpen has taken a step backward since last year, pitching to a 4.05 ERA, a modest 17th in the majors.
The Giants are 5-11 in their last 16 meetings with Atlanta and are 1-5 in their last six games as a road underdog. The Braves are 16-5 in their last 21 home games against teams with winning records. Back the home side here.
Prediction: Braves moneyline (-152 at Unibet)
Over/Under analysis
Neither team comes into this matchup with raging-hot bats, so the Under looks like the way to go.
The Giants have eclipsed four runs in only three of their last nine games despite a 7-2 record in that stretch. They’re also 28th in team batting average in the month of June (.207).
Mike Yastrzemski has been particularly deficient at the dish this month, batting .175. Wilmer Flores hasn’t been much better, barely holding the “Mendoza Line” (.200). Far below even that ignominious mark is Evan Longoria at .156.
The Braves were stymied for the most part by the Cubs’ subpar staff over the weekend, amassing only nine runs over three games. Two of their biggest power bats in Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson are slumping at the plate, with Acuna batting .143 over the last seven days (4-for-28), and Olson batting .217 in June. Neither has homered in over a week.
The Giants have gone 5-1 to the Under in their last six games against left-handed starters, and the Braves have posted an identical record in their last six contests with the total set between 7 and 8.5.
Prediction: Under 8 (-106 at BetRivers)
Best bet
Both starters and relief corps in this game can be incredibly stingy at times, and it looks like pitching will rise to the fore on Monday night.
Webb has become one of the Giants’ more reliable starters because of his ability to limit damage on the mound. San Fran’s bullpen has been better over the last two weeks, producing a 2.05 ERA, fifth in baseball in that span.
Jake McGee has made bridging the gap to Camilo Doval (three straight saves) that much easier for manager Gabe Kapler of late, scattering two hits over 6 1-3 clean innings in June.
Fried shouldn’t require much help from his bullpen, but he can count on Kenley Jansen to close the door in the ninth inning. The former Dodger has looked like his vintage self of late, converting each of his last six save chances.
Pick: Under 8 (-106 at BetRivers)
