My analysis
Josh Smith is swinging a scorching hot bat, having recorded at least one hit in nine of his past 10 games.
That’s naturally translated to a ton of success in the hits + runs + RBI category. He's cleared his line in seven straight — including a game where he didn’t even record a hit. He's consistently getting on base and, batting near the top of the Texas Rangers lineup, he has the surrounding talent needed to cash in.
His underlying metrics paint a very positive picture during this hot streak. He's made hard contact 54% of the time and is hitting .276 with a .270 expected batting average. It’s not as if he’s making poor contact and just getting lucky. He’s getting what he deserves.
