Get set for a fun Pacific Division clash when the Sacramento Kings meet the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center.

The Kings were active buyers at the deadline, and my Kings vs. Trail Blazers predictions anticipate the newly-acquired Zach LaVine making a few triples.

Read on as I explain my NBA picks for Thursday, February 6.

My best bet
Zach LaVine Over 2.5 made threes (+105 at bet365)

My analysis
After years of being involved in trade rumor after trade rumor, former Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is now a member of the Sacramento Kings.

The newly-acquired LaVine went 0-for-4 from downtown in his Kings debut. It was only the second time the former UCLA Bruin took the collar from downtown this season.

I’m betting LaVine goes off from downtown tonight.

LaVine should see an uptick in minutes tonight. He played 31 minutes in his Sacramento debut but he typically averages 35-38 minutes, and I suspect he may see more time on the hardwood, as he has an exploitable matchup tonight.

The Portland Trail Blazers can be beaten from beyond the arc. They allow 37.5% shooting from downtown at Moda Center, but that number has regressed to a stingy 28% across its last five.

No matter. We’re getting slightly better than even money for something LaVine can do on the regular. LaVine is shooting a career-high 44% from long-range, and he’s knocked down 3+ in three of his previous five games.

Aside from the Trail Blazers recently improving perimeter defense, LaVine has as good a matchup as he could ask for. I’m betting he drains three from downtown tonight.

Kings vs Trail Blazers same-game parlay

Zach LaVine Over 2.5 made threes

Domantas Sabonis Under 14.5 rebounds

Trail Blazers moneyline

Portland has won nine of its last 10, and despite LaVine’s threes, I like Portland to win straight-up.

The Kings have lost three of their last four games. A new member is getting 30+ minutes, but the chemistry isn’t there yet.

Now they roll into Portland facing a red-hot Trail Blazers side, allowing the second-fewest rebounds across its last five.

That should make life difficult for Kings forward Domantas Sabonis. He hasn’t snagged 15 caroms in five of his last six, and he’ll have difficulties grabbing 15 tonight against the Blazers.

That’s how Portland will win tonight. They’ll win the glass, take advantage of the newly-minted Kings lineup, and find a way to win its sixth straight at Moda Center.
