It’s a jam-packed night of NBA action with nine games on the board for basketball bettors wager on, and with some of the biggest names in the game taking the court, you know we’ve got to have some player props to bet on.
Cade Cunningham has a chance to light up the Hawks, I keep fading the Thunder on the glass, and DeMar DeRozan is bound to dish out the dimes.
Here are my NBA picks for Wednesday, January 22.

NBA player props for January 22
Cade Cunningham Over 2.5 threes (+125 at bet365)
It has been a breakout season for the Detroit Pistons. They enter play tonight winners of 11 of their last 15, and a big reason for this breakout is that former No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham has taken his game to the next level.
The 23-year-old is posting career highs in points (24.5), assists (9.3), and rebounds (6.5), but the biggest difference has been his confidence from beyond the arc. Cunningham is shooting a career-best 37.3% from 3-point range on 6.5 attempts from deep per game.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks remain vulnerable with their perimeter defense. The Hawks allow opponents to shoot the third-most 3-point attempts per game while ranking next to last in opponent 3-point shooting percentage.
Cunningham’s Over/Under is set at a modest 2.5, with the Over giving us a nice +125 price tag. It’s even better when you consider Cunningham is shooting 38.4% on 6.6 attempts over his last 22 games, hitting the Over on this number 14 times.
Walker Kessler 13+ rebounds (+250 at bet365)
For all the great things the Oklahoma City Thunder do as a team, rebounding is not one of them. The Thunder currently rank 26th in rebounding rate, and thanks in part to their high pace of play, they give up the fourth-most opponent rebounds per game.
While that is unlikely to burn them tonight as they host the Utah Jazz as massive 17-point favorites, it does mean there is some value to be found backing some Jazz rebounding props — and my sights are squarely set on center Walker Kessler.
Although the Utah big man enters tonight’s matchup averaging 11.4 rebounds per game, his rebounding prop for this matchup is set at 9.5, with the Over being heavily juiced. That’s likely due to the fact that a blowout is potentially on the table and Kessler could see fewer minutes.
Well, about that. OKC and Utah faced off back on Dec. 3 and the Thunder won by 27... with Kessler still grabbing 11 boards.
I’m actually taking Kessler’s alt line of 13+ rebounds. He is averaging 13 rebounds over his last 12 games, hitting the 13+ mark eight times over that span. At a +250 price tag, I’m backing Kessler to keep cleaning the glass in a big way tonight.
DeMar DeRozan Over 3.5 assists (+110 at bet365)
The Sacramento Kings are on the rise, and it's been obvious that DeMar DeRozan has been a huge help for De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
DeRozan is averaging 21.5 points and 3.8 assists in his first season in Sacramento, and he’s also been a big part of the Kings' 7-1 SU run, averaging 25.1 points and 3.9 assists over his last eight games.
While DeRozan has the hot hand shooting the ball, I’m actually targeting his dimes tonight. DeRozan has an assists prop sitting at 3.5, a number he has eclipsed five times in his last eight games.
Tonight, he’ll face a Golden State Warriors team that ranks 19th in opponent assists per possession in January (10 games). DeRozan is seeing a lot of minutes and the Kings also play at a high pace, so it should create more possessions and more opportunities to get his teammates involved.
It also doesn’t hurt that our Covers Prop Projections have DeRozan at 4.6 assists for this matchup. Give me the Over at plus money.
